Definitely. Christians in the U.S. are trying to make life here a living hell, and they are making a lot of progress.

There have been copious discussions about your question. I know there are amazing people out there who don't believe in God, be that as it may, people will not get into heaven for good deeds alone nor can they, "buy" their way into the kingdom. If that were the case, more masses would be there. There have been accounts of people dying and coming back with abundant faith and belief. All have said they feel a marvelous peace, see a bright light, see family, their Guardian Angel or see who they believe is Jesus Christ, Our Lord. They can't express the incredulous love they feel and then they're told to go back. All have said they didn't want to remain on earth. Some of those people have even cried over having to come back here and some have gone into a deep depression. I saw a story about a guy on television, who was a proclaimed atheist. One day, he died on the operating table for a few minutes and went straight to hell or his view of it. What he saw there terrified him so much that after he got out of the hospital, he immediately called a Minister? Priest? He "changed his tune" quickly and he is now a Church member. He said what he saw made him realize he was "barking up the wrong tree." =] Additionally, all you would have to do is look in the mirror to believe there is a God. <><

I don't believe in hell as a place but more like a state of mind. It works kinda the same way as it does in Christianity: If you do things you shouldn't bad things will happen to you, not in the magical sense though. For instance if you are a generally hateful person, other people around you will act the same way making you miserable so you are in a state of hell. I know a lot of people who are in this hell right now, most of them are likely the religious fanatics who take life too seriously. If you take Satan to be a symbolic representation of what leads people away from good then I think you might agree that most religions could be considered a manifestation of this Satan. Whether or not you believe in God, Gods, Gandalf, Santa Clause, it doesn't matter; the point of the universe is to find your little niche' and have some fun!

I believe that we "create" our own hell, and that the one the Christians talk about (as well as some of the other mono-theistic book religions) does not exist. It was created to help the early churches (mosques etc) get money to become even more powerful. I believe that if you think you are going to hell that you will, but it won't be the fire and brimstone style, it will be one of your making. I believe that I will join the deity when I pass through the veil. Of that I have NO doubts!

The christian hell is a joke. There is, however, are places on this planet that these people should spend some time. Prison.

Not the Christian version - no.
But every time I watch the news, I wonder if hell isn't right here on Earth and we're all living in it.

While I accept that nothing is impossible (only highly improbable), I personally believe that hell is more of a method to keep people from questioning Christianity. Faith should not be inspired by fear.

No, I don't believe in "hell." But I agree that it would be a convenient reward for some crummy people on this planet. Perhaps that's how the whole idea began.

The entire concept of "Hell" is no more asinine than the concept, and therefore the Hope, of "Heaven".

I believe hell ~ as well as heaven ~ is a state of being that we experience in this lifetime rather than a place people go to in afterlife.
