I was turning right and ran into a woman who came up from behind me, it was one lane at the time I hit her?

there was an intersection up ahead and the lane we were in split into two, but at the time it was still one lane. Isn't it her fault for coming up beside me when it was still one lane?

If it was still one lane, and you DID signal, then you should be in the clear. She's the one squeezing a car where she should not (i.e. using the shoulder to pass).

However, make sure you take photos of the scene and get aerial view and explain this clearly to your insurance adjuster.

Once I got into an accident and even my insurance company was going to pin 100% of the blame on me when I printed out the local aerial photo (thank you Yahoo! ) marked the spots, and asked my adjuster why did the other party cut over two lanes. Now we're both equally at fault and my insurance wasn't raised as a result.

Other drive got into a blind spot.
Got to assume every other driver and pedestrian is drunk
anything can happen. Put you signals on always.

Watch out making a left turn onto a road that has parked cars.
Someone can pull out while looking in their side view mirror
only see behind them not what coming from their side-which
is you.

i would imagine it is your fault as you turned without making sure it was clear. did she have to go on the other side of the road( assuming it was two way) and that's where you hit her? if so, that may be different, as you probably don't have to expect anyone coming that way

More likely then not. She was probably talking on the phone, drinking a latte, and doing her make up while steering with her knees. Set your right side outer mirror so you will see the vehicle in your blind spot next time.
