nothing unclean will enter Heaven nor will anything that is not perfect. it is my understanding that Jesus is the only one that walked the earth whom was with out sin and perfect.
so do we become clean and perfect while still here if so where can I find the scripture to back that up? if we do not become perfect here then how can we enter Heaven, as no unclean thing shall enter?
I know how some of the Christian religions believe where this is concerned. some believe that all we have to do is be baptized into their religion and thats all it takes and some believe that when we accept Jesus for who
he is then we're in and some believe that their are different levels of heaven and it depends on how close we get to perfect when we are here as to which level we go to and some believe that we go to a place where Abraham and even some of our loved ones and others are waiting for judgment day and we are taught and brought to perfection there.

We will not be perfect here on Earth; however, as we sin and come short of the Glory, we strive to perfection through repentance of our sins as they occur. As we repent, our sins are wiped away.....so when we die we won't have them on us as we go to heaven.

As for judgment, I believe that after death, we go to Paradise as Jesus told the one who repented on the other cross....Jesus told him that today he would be with him in Paradise. Paradise can't be Heaven because when Jesus saw Mary after his resurrection, he told her not to touch him because he had not yet ascended unto his father....so he hadn't been to Heaven, but he had been to Paradise as he told the other guy on the cross. I believe we await the final Judgment Day while we are in Paradise.

I am a member of a Freewill Baptist Church. Christian first.

I get these beliefs from the four Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Also, Corinthians is where most of the people that believe in multiple levels of Heaven get their belief of levels of Heaven from.......where Paul was caught up....in a dream???...vision...I'm not sure...

I'm Gnostic Christian. I believe the bible is a basic guide for living not something to live your life by.

We cant ever be "perfect" on earth if perfect is defined correctly in the bible. It even states we have sinned from birth thats why some religions believe babies go to hell if not baptized. What could an infant do thats so wrong? Everyone knows or should know the bible itself isnt perfect. Dont take it word for word, only as a type of guideline one for it's inconsistancys and two for it being written for the time it was and by the different people during different times.

I am LDS. No one but Christ leaves this earth perfect. We must be perfect to enter heaven as you indicated. We have the 1000 years where Christ rules. We have to be pretty good people to live during the millenium. This will be a time of learning, and a time to drop our old bad habits that are hanging around. They can't be too serious are we wouldn't be there, but maybe we have a small anger problem, or maybe we are selfish or whatever. We have 1000 years of training and practice to be ready to be in the presence of God. Then we are judged, and those perfected will enter into the Kingdom of God. We have been washed clean by the blood of christ, but may have continued to do a few small things.

You are right, some do believe once saved always saved. The Bible and my religion says we have to "endure to the end" Paul's election was made sure and he indicated as he approached the end of his ministry , that he had endured and was ready to meet Christ and God.

I am an Independent Southern Baptist : The first thing to understand is the fact that all men are born into sin ! In order to get to Heaven you must ask the Lord God for forgiveness of your sins with a contrite heart and spirit ! Confessing to Him in Prayer that you freely acknowledge Him and asking Him to save your soul as your Lord and Savior ! You are correct about nothing unclean entering into Heaven . That is why Jesus Christ died on the Cross for you , so that your uncleanliness of this life is hidden or covered by the Blood of Jesus ! God has accepted Jesus Christ , His only begotten Son to be your " mediator " if you are saved by the Blood ! Jesus in earthly terms could be considered to be your attorney before God , with Jesus stating that you are innocent of all your earthly sins` , because His Blood has provided you a shield , or a defense that sin cannot penetrate ! About being Baptized ; To be Baptized simply means you are publicly recognizing and / or displaying your declaration of your acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Savior ! Just getting Baptized alone won`t get you into Heaven ! Your sins` have to be washed away by your acknowledgment that Jesus is your Lord and Savior , and your have confessed your sin`s , asking God for forgiveness ! You become perfect by the Blood of Jesus once you get to Heaven !

Perfection comes after death or translation (rapture). The reason for this is that we inherited this disposition or corruption from our parents, all the way back to the garden (Rom 5 latter half). 1 john 1 says that those who claim to be without sin make God to be a liar. The new body will be without this corruption (1 cor 15) which is how we will be able to enter heaven.

We cannot be perfect on this earth, as we are all born in sin. When we pass on out of this life (provided we are saved by Christ Jesus), then He shall make us perfect. We will no longer have a sinful nature. It is only on this earth that we have sin. We will not enter heaven 'unclean' as all our sin will be wiped away.

I am a born again Christain and are reformed Presbyterian - :)

How about this - do you believe in resurrection? Or do you believe that when you die that's it.

At the resurrection of Jesus, who was without sin, the first desciples who saw him did not recognize him. Is it plausible that when we die and are resurrected at the second coming that we will be the same as when we died?

Oh yeah, and then there's purgatory - which I'm still having trouble with - where roman catholics tidy up before reaching the pearly gates. That's where we go to wait for others to pray for us, because when we're dead, we can't pray for ourselves.

We are perfect in Christ, in the eyes of God...maybe not in our own eyes. While here we have the opportunity to be transformed more and more into His image, and store up treasures through our love and selfless acts. How we live will determine if we built with "wood, hay and stubble" or "precious gold" that will be refined in the fire, not burnt up as the wood and hay will be. How we spend the life we are given will determine our position in the next, when we are called Home to the Father's House. So we are called to be wise stewards, and not bury our treasure but invest it in our lives, and the lives of others, for the glory of God.

We are not perfect, but God knows are hearts better than we do. We are all flawed and all we can to do is try to live better and repent. God tells us he will spew us if we are luke warm, which means we have to do more than be baptized and yes I do believe in different levels of heaven and hell for that matter.

I believe that it is possible to get close to perfection. But that would be an all-encompassing path. I think that Ghandi was close to perfection. Perhaps Mother Teresa, too.
