A doctor found malignant tumors on my father's kidney and lymphnodes in scans and later took tissue samples. The biopsy results came back today and it turns out that he has neither renal cancer nor lymphoma and they are taking more samples to try to figure it out. What other types of cancer could this be? He has NO outward symptoms besides back pains (that's why he went in for scans... he thought it was a pinched nerve). I know that we will find out from the professionals in the next few weeks, but the waiting until then is wretched!

My guess is if the cancer was found in the kidneys but not a kidney or lymphoma, it may be another cancer that the cells have spread to these areas or for some reasons developed in these areas.

There are alot of good treatments out there. Your best bet is to wait to hear from the doctor. Pre-worry is many times unneccesary worry you never needed to have. Patience is the best policy. The waiting is hard, but don't wear yourself out with worry. Nothing you read here may ever apply to your father.......

My daughter had very slim survival chances. I was told she wouldnt survive the year. She was 4 at diagnosis. She is currently "15". No matter what your told or the statistics you see for it, never give up. There are many, many miracles left in this world! I live with one! I seen many more with the same ending stories. STAY POSSITVE!

BTW My daughters tumors were in both kidneys, (more than one) and in several lymph noids. She didn't have either fo those cancers either. She had Bi-Lateral Wilms. That would be an odd one for you father though as it is a childs cancer. I beleive the oldest case of it is 16? Its usually discoved in children under age 2. My daughter was even discoverd late int he game. It is believed she was born with it. Hers is the genetic type of Wilms.

GOD BLESS!

This could be metastatic disease from an unknown primary. In other words he probably has a primary tumor in, say, the lung. The cell type on biopsy might not show specific lung cells but the same type of cells that line many of the organs of the body. I would suggest a PET scan for a global view of any increased metabolism in the body.

It could be a type of sarcoma. Sarcoma tumors can grow from almost anywhere in the body. My brother had a large abdomenal tumor that squished many of his internal organs, doctors never did know what type of cancer he had. My guess is he had a soft-tissue sarcoma, which can begin growing on the outside of any organ.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
