As has been mentioned it is on your DD214. If you have lost that goto http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/ and you can get a copy. It took me about two to three weeks to get mine.
I am getting a bit old and have trouble remembering my kids birthdays. But there are two days I remember, the day I was sworn into the Navy and the day I got out. I can even still remember my service number, back before they started using your SSN.

If this means you were once enlisted or commisioned, google 2xcitizen. Thats the army human resource site with all military records. Thats obviously, only if you were army...
