I have noticed that for every question I answer, someone always gives me a thumbs down. Is it because I answer honestly or is it because my husband is from Mexico? Not that it hurts my feelings or anything. I believe the public should be educated and will answer honestly to those with serious questions.

For I Love Mutts:
I don't have anything negative to say about anything. People ask questions and I give honest answers. If you husband is an immigration attorney then you should at least be informed that deportations are waivable with form I-212 b it you aren't because you gave wrong and misleading info to a previous question that someone else asked. I am pro-immigrant pro-reform and pro-information. I believe the american public should be informed about how ridicously hard it really is for people from 3rd world countries to even get a tourist visa to visit relatives. I am proud that my husband is from Mexico, proud that I am sponsoring his legal return to the states, and proud to also be an American. I believe in education. IF your husband is really an immigration lawyer then he should honestly be on the forefront for getting these laws changed for the better.

For True Red White and Blue:
He did not marry me for papers, we already have a child together. This country is being invaded because the current laws for obtaining legal entry from 3rd world countries are impossible. I will say it again people I support REFORM and EDUCATION. I do not listen to media and news reports because they only report one side of every situation (the side that will get ratings).

It's because alot of people on here go around just thumbing down people whether they even read the answer/question or anything. You can't figure out who it is either because more times than not they don't even answer the question. Don't let it bother you. I've gotten thumbs down, and probably will on this too. If you care about the thumbs down, maybe YA isn't a place for you.

First, you usually answer questions about topics people are passionate about, that bring out the debate easily, and that most people are extreme about, they are either in favor or against.
Second, your answers are not always objective, specially in Immigration topics, because it's something that touches you closely you see things in a way that sometimes is right but sometimes is wrong (I'm an Immigrant too).
And Third, it can make a big difference the way you say things, you can express the same idea in a kinder, more convincing tone than the "you are wrong-deal with it" tone sometimes you use, probably without even noticing.
Like others say, it's just a matter of different opinions, each thumb down just means I don't think like you, that's all.

This answer is not correct at all...
---------------------------------
It may not be much consolation, but not every American is as dishonest and racist as the anti-Mexican party would like you to believe.
---------------
I don't believe either one of you read my responses, or the links I have supplied, but I shall do that again hope you read it.
http://www.usillegalaliens.com/the_dark_side_of_illegal_immigration.html
Please read the link. Why in the world does anyone think we want to be kicked around the way the illegal aliens are kicking us around? Why in the world does anyone think we want to support the illegal aliens after they get here? Why in the world does anyone think we want the criminal activity that accompanies all of the illegal aliens communities that I am aware of.. that records criminal data? Holy Cow... you have the wrong idea about Americans. We don't want any of what the illegal aliens bring us. We do all the jobs out there that pay a decent wage, and if we get caught doing the crimes the illegal aliens are doing, we go to jail for years.
But also... it is illegal to illegally enter our country. Do that in Mexico and you would be in even more trouble than here. All the countries in the world have about the same policy too, so if an illegal alien shows up in total disrespect of our laws... what kind of idiot thinks we want you to come up and kick us around?
Read the link. No thanks.
And racism is a dirty word and you guys are using it when what we want is clearly determined by that link. It makes people a LOT madder. I think it is pretty clear also that your effort to force illegal aliens down our throat is just not going to happen.

So it's nearly impossible for those 5 billion or so from 3rd world nations to get a visa into the U.S.?
And it's very easy for those from the U.S. and other developed nations to get entrance visas to 3rd world nations?
Gee! Seems it'd be the other way around, right? Course not!
Why are those nations poor? Why, it is CERTAINLY no fault of their own! Must be their governments! Or the U.S. government! Those people (who, while impoverished themselves, have children anyway while developed nations hold off so long the governments offer incentives to start families), are absolutely BLAMELESS (sarcasm!).
If you get thumbs down, it is likely because those people don't need visas to the U.S. anymore than the untidy sibling needs to move into his/her tidier sibling's room.
All third-worlders (majority of illegals come from Mexico and Guatemala) need to clean their own rooms!
Oprah was approached by women from tiny villages in Africa who only wanted the TRAINING and the basic CEMENTS and other materials to BUILD THEIR OWN SCHOOLS!!!!! Local parents donated their OWN land for the building!!! The WOMEN had to make the bricks as the men were working the fields. Then the men and woman worked together to build the schools! Just like our ancestors in the U.S.
"Room to Read" is an organization that donates most of the building materials for building schools in Laotian villages. Again!!! The locals donate their OWN land and contribute ALL the labor...ON THEIR OWN!!!
They will become wealthy in time. And they're EARNING IT!!!!
A family member of mine volunteered to teach in Mexico soon after graduation from college. S/He even paid every dime for living expenses - over $2,000 out of student loans and grants!!!
The buildings are in place. Water is there. Electricity (though not as abundant and regular as here) was sufficient.
No One Came To Class!!!!!!!!!
But every home she visited welcomed her in like family - BY WHICH I MEAN "THEY OFFERED HER A TALL SHOT OF TEQUILA... ... AT ELEVEN IN THE MORNINGS!!!!!
And we need to allow more of these people into the US?
...

So because your husband is from Mexico, it makes it OK for thousands of illegal immigrants to enter our country daily?? New flash, my husband is from Mexico, born and raised in Mexico City. He immigrated here 10 years ago, has a degree from the Marshall School of Law, and is an immigration attorney, yet both of us are totally against the uncontrolled streams of illegals coming into the US daily. Perhaps it is that your answers provoke a negative response because you attack the asker of the question and always have something negative to say about the subject.
Add: Why would my husband want to change the laws? He believes that if you want to come to America, you should do it the LEGAL way. Besides, he is making money by providing honest, hard worker immigrants with H2a and H2b work visas. People pay my husband thousands to apply for these work visas. It just goes to show you that if you want something bad enough, you'll work for it. So there is no excuse why people need to come here illegally. If you want to immigrate to America, work hard, save your money, and apply for a visa, just like all the people who immigrated here in the past have done.

Some people don't agree with what you are saying.
Some people simply don't "like" you because they have decided you are a "pro", so, they will give you thumbs down without reading your answer. Pros do this to "antis", also.
I have noticed the same thing with some questions. If I give the correct answer (and even provide links) I get thumbs down.. Someone else comes along and gives the same answer, and, they get thumbs up.
It is kind of funny. Don't take it to seriously, though. You are but an icon on a computer screen..... LOL.

If you answer a question in politics and government, it's almost assured you'll get both thumbs up and thumbs down. There's a lot of different opinions on the issues brought up here and it's unrealistic to think everyone will agree with your point of view.
Personally, I think the way you state your opinion should be more important than your point of view when it comes to up/down, but there isn't unanimous opinion on how to use the thumbs up/down either.

Perhaps it's because you like to play the "race/ethnic card". (For instance, I wouldn't have known your husband was from Mexico, if you weren't playing it for pity right now -- although I might have guessed it from some of your answers.) Some people find that unsavory.
Or maybe they just don't like how you turn what starts off as a simple question into a long diatribe attacking each and every answer that you don't like.

Not really sure, but i've notice that most pros have an emotional attachment to the issue. They have someone close to them that is illegal. This prevents them from admitting most of the facts on the illegal immigration issue.

Some people just like to give the thumbs-down to everyone. I think some naively believe that they're more likely to get best answer if they give thumbs down to everyone else. I think others are "drive-bys" who give thumbs down to everyone and don't even post an answer. Don't worry about it. Some people are just idiots.
