So, I got my first tattoo back in June, and I've always wanted to eventually have my whole back done, but I wasn't exactly thinking when I got this in terms of how I could make it work with other pieces on my back.
It's on my left back shoulder, its the Simba drawing that Rafiki draws on the tree in the Lion King. It's about 3 inches.
Any ideas on how I can work off of it and still have my back look nice? I was planning on having my whole back done piece by piece not all at once...some things I was considering were maybe flowers/roses for my mom, maybe something elvis related, more animals...yea. Im not planning on getting my next one for maybe another year so don't tell me im rushing into this and that if i need to ask i shouldnt get one, i would just like some opinions. Thanks!
any ideas would be appreciated!

I think that you should choose a whole bunch of pictures that have meaning to you and incorporate them together. For example, since you like lions? you could have it whirl into a jungle theme including the animals, plants flowers, insects, that have meaning to you. for example I have a butterfly on my back that eventually i would like to add fairies, dragonflys, flowers, hawk, eagle to maybe some native american influence since all of those have a special meaning to me. maybe start collecting pic's and thinking ablout what is special to you then arrange them in a form that you would like on your back piece. have fun

ideally a back piece is one that is cohesive and not a pieced together confetti of tattoos. all of the back pieces that i have ever seen that i would consider attractive are those that are cohesive and come together to be one tattoo. ones that are a jumble of different things really don't work well and aren't appealing to the eye. if anything... i would get the other tattoo covered up with a central idea for your back, get the simba drawing tattoo done somewhere else. also... next time definitely think into the future about what tattoos you'll want to get.

if i were you i would continue, with the theme of what you have started, like more lions in a jungle, with a mixture of other animals, or birds, and like another person stated insects... a back piece should all be related.. on my back piece i did a fantasy land, on the top of my back i have dark mountains a dark castle, a small dragon, that from the mountain, i have a water fall, that has a fairy sitting on a stone with her toes, in the pond on the very bottom of my back, i have unicorns, Pegasus, flowers, its very beautiful, it started small on the top to bigger on the bottom but the as i was going from dark on top to brighter and colorful... so as i was saying when you do a big piece, you need to pick a theme, i am sure you will do what you want, and it will be a great tat, have fun with it :)

maybe if you kept the simba but put rays around it to make it a sun, it will be easier to incorperate with the rest of the stuff you are talking about :)

maybe you could keep going with the simba/nature thing, like put a tree next to the simba, like this tree ( http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/images/davef/lionkingreview07.jpg ).
