Well they did used to burn people alive at the stake if anyone did not believe that they were correct in their teachings and refused to bow the knee to the pope!
They tortured and killed 68 million people, mostly protestants during the middle ages. Bloody Mary Queen of England was incredably cruel to Bible readers.
They did sell indulgences (actually they still do that today) and were so corrupt, actually they still do that today.
And then of course if you do some research and check about the so called orphan children that they shipped off to austraia and then the nins held the little boys and girls down whilst the priests raped and buggered them.
Again, this is still something they are doing today, so really NOTHING has changed, hopefully it will continue to decline until the last RC priest and nun die!
Of course there is always the little babies that they kill after illicit affairs from nuns with the priests, still goes on today.

People are choosing their own paths, not that of the church. The Catholic church has caused it's own decline by enforcing an outdated code of ethics, for example-no women as priests. Why would women want to remain in a church that treats them as second class citizens? Their views on the rights of gays, the anti-abortion views, and just the plain abusiveness of the priests has turned many people away.

If by "declination" you actually mean "decline" here is a precise and straight to the point answer dear:

In every modern civilized countries, thanks to public school systems and education, religious superstitions and delusions are quietly fading away. This is true for every religion, not just catholicism.
Let's continue to promote education for all and religion will simply disappear.

Every religion has come and gone at some point. And just as now, new religions come and replace them. Considering that Christianity was seen as a cult by the Ancient Greeks it is not a surprise. I would say the weakest link in Christianity is science and the fact that the Bible can now be looked at by modern eyes and there are numerous 'holes' in it's teachings and information that modern science can explain.

homosexuality of the catholic priests! the catholic church is losing millions of US dollars in lawsuits protecting their priests in the court of law. the catholic church went into selling their properties in the US for the lawsuits such as molesting kids, homosexual acts against innocent nuns and memebers. in short, immorality and corruption within the old and stinking system like the islam religion.

Well, priests molesting children doesn't help. I suppose the rigidity of it and the change in society as a whole. I'm sure they're lots of factors for it but probably no particular one....

Is it truly declining? Probably too many stories in the news, or people finally see that worshipping idols is sin in the bible.
