My daughter was close to needing one the day she was born!
She NEEDED, quite badly, a cut at less than 18 weeks. The hair was covering her eyes if I didn't put barrettes in or use a headband and those don't work so well on such a young baby.
I cried having it done lol.

Both my girls needed hair cuts when they were born as well. They had such long hair at birth that people would stop me and ask if they were wearing wigs...baby wigs, are you kidding me???
Also, people kept telling me their hair would fall out. Trust me, babies with a full head of hair at birth don't lose it. I understand that it does fall out in some children, but my kid's hair never fell out. Not one strand, I swear! These people would yell at me, "You know that hair is going to fall out!!! Don't get used to it!" I think it was mostly jealous parents whose children didn't have hair until later. But when you are using hair accessories to keep the hair out of her eyes in the hospital, it gets old.

My first I think got her first hair cut after she was a year old, my second was a boy, and he got his first at about 8 months but it was well overdue. Now my fourth, I started trimming it the day he came home from the hospital...too much hair! The twins (number 3 and 4) unlike the older ones, only get haircuts at home, and they need them every month.

We did not cut my sons hair until he was about 3 years old. His hair was long, about to his shoulders, and just needed a little shaping as well as getting his bangs cut out of his eyes. We kept the length though, it looks so cute long.

My son got his first right around 10 months - his hair was so long that people kept telling me he was a girl - big blond curls!
I would say, no, he's a boy, and they'd ask me, " Are you sure? "
No! I was WRONG these last 10 months! THANK YOU for showing me that he IS in fact a GIRL!
