I assume the question is "Can democracy and Islam co-exist?" Many fundamental Muslims, not necessarily terrorists, believe that you should not vote because the Qu'ran and Haddeeth lay down exactly how life should be led and that with Sha'ria law in place there needs be no government other than the Islamic courts. I am not quite sure how either could deal with, for instance, motoring law or privacy in the context of the computer age, but that is what I have heard them expound.

The same question was asked about Catholicism 100 years ago. Its particularly strange to ask about Islam because it is the most democratic religion in structure - it doesnt have a clerical heirachy and considers all human beings equal.

What does the assasination of Bhutto have to do with Islam and democracy - does the assasination of Rabin mean Judaism and democracy dont mix or of Kennedy that Christianity doesnt?

Islam and democracy can and do co-exist - in Iraq the voter turnout was far higher than the US

However Islamophobia/Pax America and democracy cant - this is shown by the US refusing to accept elections in doesnt like in Gaza, Algeria and Pakistan (where the US is backing a military dictator who overthrew a democratically elected govt!!) - and supporting tyrants all over the Muslim world

Do you know how the first Muslim leader after the Prophet (pbuh) came to power? He was elected

LOL

The Islamic form of governing IS democratic. Unfortunately, not many Islamic countries have been able to implement the correct way of democracy.

However, true democracy did exist when the Prophet Muhammad was alive... which was about 1400 years ago.

Yes they can, but not with the democracies that we have today. They are totally opposites. like oil and water. Islam has it' own system of governance which makes it unique and seperates it from other religions. It's just unfortunate that muslims have chosen to follow the systems of the kafirs which has lead to all the problems that muslims are having today.

the cornerstone of any civilization is science and justice and both are recalled to be from Islam basics so as democracy can fly in presence of justice but the reverse is not true so i believe that Islam and democracy must exist if there is no democracy so this is not true Islam since there would be justice too

Lincoln and the Kennedy's were assasinated, too, and Democracy managed to survive. Islamic Turkey has managed to get Democracy going fairly well.

Apachow.... you question suggests that neither exist, where as they both do. Should you try rephrasing this question as 'can Islam and Democracy co-exist'? in which case I assume that you will get a few people who will ask you to define Democracy, and you will find that the American system is far from a democracy. Also you assume that democracy is the only good system of government in the world, and it is not.

Yes, but not radical Islam.

Moderate, secular Islamic faith and democracy already successfully co-exist in places like Turkey and Malaysia.

However, many radical followers of Islam actually believe democracy to be anti-religious.

It's not that they can't co-exist - just that a pathetic minority of zealots do not allow it to.

The both exist. Are you under the impression that either Islam or democracy doesn't exist?

I don't know what Pakistan has to do with your question.
