What about a gay couple raising a little girl?
How are you going to prepare her for things like her period, all the other things that women go through?

Wow.
Nobody has to prove anything to you, and I wouldn't waste my time responding to this if not for one of the answers you got here.
To you I say - being human is what makes us all equal to each other, in body, soul, and spirit. Homosexuality is not a choice. People are born that way - just the same as I was born a heterosexual girl.
Um, bibliophile - using your logic, then I suppose my friend should not be allowed to raise his daughter since his wife passed away and there's no woman in the house to explain things to her? (She was pre-teen at the time) Sorry, he's done a dang good job explaining to her about her period and other womanly things, and when she did get her period, she was comfortable enough to go with him to CVS to get some feminine products.
And seriously, how many kids actually reside with two parents (at the same time) today anyway? Most of my friends with kids are divorced or single, and many of the single Mom's I know are dealing with "deadbeat Dads." A child is lucky to have two parents who love and care for them and provide for them these days.
As well as there are plenty of straight couples out there who are lousy at raising children.
This is a bad example to prove your "point", which is filled with hate and fear of anyone that is "different" than you.

Or... what.
Studies show children raised by gay parents have less social and mental issues than those raised in "traditional" families. So...actually, kids are better off with two mommies or daddies than one of each. I imagine the data is skewed somewhat because only the most fitting homosexual partners make the decision to adopt a child, but then again, perhaps that's a good thing as opposed to "oops I'm 16 and pregnant" which is so common.

Well even if they do something as bad as kill their own child than they would still be equal to heterosexuals raising a child in some cases. All you need to be a good parent is a lot of love and a willingness to teach your child right from wrong.
to biblioph:
A single father should have his daughter taken away because he couldn't possibly understand anything about a period because he has never had one?

You know, I'm a heterosexual, and I want you to prove that YOU can raise a child equal to other heterosexuals. Can you be as good a provider as Bill Gates? Can you be as loving a parent as ME? Can you prove that there is a soul or spirit that homosexuals need to take care of? I say you're the one that needs to be questioned, since you seem to think that anyone needs to prove their parenting abilities to you, as opposed to themselves.
Isn't it great that the world doesn't bend to your beliefs or demands?

Of course they are equals. They are a living breathing human just like you and I. The only difference is they get so much hype for just trying to live there lives like the rest of us. It is about time people get over it and start being more accepting or different lifestyles. It isn't affecting you so let it be.

I am sraight, and am not for acting on homosexual urges. But you need to realize that you are no better than anybody else! Have you been graced with a child? Have you ever commited a sin of any kind? Who are you to judge!

Hard, isn't it.

im straight but I hate the hypocriscy of people who use the bible to hate. I cite the example of the good samaritan. jesus, by jewish law, should have been stoned to death for helping the samaratan on the sabbath. if he can reach out and accept his society's "untouchables" who are we to judge anyone? what consenting adults do is none of our business. AND look at the "christian" and "heterosexual" SPEARS FAMILY. Along with HILTON and SIMPSON, BUSH, CHENEY, CLINTON, etc, etc, etc....

Prove to me that you're smart enough to raise kids. Many heterosexuals are completely unqualified to raise children and they are still allowed that freedom. I don't think they really care about proving anything to you anyway. How are they supposed to prove anything about their imaginary "spirit" and "soul" anyway?
