I'm a Christian, I go to church, I read the Bible, I do not agree with abortion however, I don't believe it's the Governments job to mandate on this issue. Christians should understand better than anyone that God gave us a free will for a reason. So we could make decisions, right or wrong. We cannot be forced into a heart change, it has to come from within. We as Christians need to stop forcing our belief system down everyone's throats and do what we are supposed to do. "Love one another" until you and I can do that we need not to get too bent out of shape about everything else because we are failing the fundamental rule ourselves. That's why the country is in the situation it is in, because we are too busy worrying about what everyone else is doing and failing in our own walk.

"Our nation was founded on morals. Right and wrong"
Wrong. Our nation was founded on Liberty and the persuit of happiness.
"Thats why we got rid of slavery, because it was WRONG"
We were a country for 100 years before we got rid of slavery and yet in many places black people are still treated like second class citizens which is wrong. So much for your theory.
"so now abortion comes into play, and people want it, just because they want to have sex."
People get abortions for a variety of reasons. Promescuity? Sure. Not ready of have a kid? Sure. Due to rape? Sure. Due to medical complications? Sure.
"so it's worth your 5 minutes of pleasure to kill someone?"
First of all, you only last 5 minutes? Second of all an abortion done during the first trimaster can hardly be considered a person. Most abortions take place when the embryo is only a couple hundred cells. You kill more cells everytime you scratch your nose.
"it's MORALLY wrong."
You morality is subjective.
"Christians, we need to take a bigger stand. If slavery was able to be overruled, that abortion surely will be. and right now it is : )"
Keep in mind that slavery was magnificently condoned in your Bible and your Bible was used as the primary justification of slavery. At least in the United States.
For all of you Christians out there wondering why atheists and people who dislike religion are always complaining about your "shoving your religion down our throats", this is a prime example of your attempting to legislate your religious worldview and morality on other people. You don't agree with abortion? Then don't have one.

Obviously wrong. Getting rid of slavery took more than one hundred years. It took even longer for freedom of reproductive choice to get recognized as a right. I gather you're trying to turn back the clock, but I don't see why you're targeting christians here. The bible explicitly states that children less than one month old have no value, so I don't know why you're appealing to christians on the matter.
You're more likely to find allies amongs humanists, who are more likely to believe that life is important in and of itself (as opposed to what it says in the bible). Unfortunately humanists also believe in freedom and personal responsibility, so it's not a slam dunk either. But at least they don't have a biblical believe in the unimportance of young and unborn children.

It took a civil war before the slavery issue was decided. Abortion, unlike slavery, cannot be stopped, only made more inconvenient. People with money can travel to another country, people with coat hangers can do their own.
The only way you can stop abortion is to change people's hearts, and a judgmental, militant approach to the problem holds little hope of doing that.

I don't think you've thought this through. You claim that "people want it, just because they want to have sex." This is a lie and you know it. No one wants abortions to be legalized so they can have sex; birth control is already cheap, available and much less risky than abortions. People want abortions to be available so that a woman can make a choice to end her pregnancy if she deems it necessary.
Please don't go around saying things that you know aren't true. It makes your argument weak and poisons the ongoing discussion that it's reasonable to have about this topic.

if people were more responsible about using condoms, and birth control?, abortion would not be an issue!
Bur religionists, block the commercials, and sex education, about condoms, because they are under the misapprehension, that they are giving permission to teens to have sex.
HA HA!!Teens are already having sex!! And with better sex education, they would be better prepared to deal with the responsibility, that comes with being sexually active.
Religionists need teach their children, that if they are going to be sexually active?, use condoms.
End of problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our nation was founded on FREEDOM!!! So that women would have the right to choose.
YOU, and I don't have the right to make a CHOICE for a woman, about her OWN body!!!!
Right or Wrong!!
You want to take a stand?, Find homes for all of the children that don't have homes that ALREADY exist, .
There are orphans! And there other children whose parents have lost their rights to them, that need homes! Why don't you concentrate on THEM! THEY are HERE NOW!!
Leave woman to take care of their own bodies, they are perfectly capable of making their own decisions, about them.

I think a big part of your problem is well illustrated by your statement: "and people want it (abortion), just because they want to have sex. so it's worth your 5 minutes of pleasure to kill someone?"
You either haven't thought this through very well, or you are simply a concrete thinker who is unable to consider more complex possibilities and "shades of grey".

say you're raped. and because of it, am impregnated. some people might not want a child of rape, and therefore, abortion seems a very logical solution. it would be like a human memory of the worst time of your life. but, otherwise, i am not for it.
and i agree with others: morals in this country, yeah right.

Not really. This country was founded on geography, and an unwillingness to pay taxes to a distant regime where they had no representation.
An embryo is not a human being. Is it moral to put a gun to a woman's head and command "Gestate!"
