The same people who pronounce there is no god seem really angry at him. This makes no sense to me Why be angry at some thinng that isnt there. Some cultures worship animals or ansestorsrs others worship the sun or wind. Why are they not a target for the hate spewed, but christians are.

"Why are atheist so angry at people of faith?"
..
... Why?
Because they can be. And i don't know that i would call it anger, as much as, misplaced resentment.

See, there was a time not too long ago, where people who worshiped more toward the shamanistic, or simply choose to be without faith,
..well.. they were most likely hanged. Or executed in one way or another.

Now'a'days, though.. One can voice their opposition, without fear of imprisonment or death. And in doing so, they are going to scream, until they've forgotten what they began screaming, for..

I'm a Protestant on this board, who has never disrespected a non-Theist around here, yet often feel their ire.

Little things called blue laws. How in 7 states to this day public office can't be held if the person does not admit to the belief of god. Or how the church doesn't get taxed but about 200 bucks comes out of my paycheck every time. Or how our country wasn't founded on christianity but its made out to be like that today. Or how there's supposed to be a separation of church and state yet there's catholic schools that teach wonderful things, like believing evolution didnt happen but leave out how many people were killed in the name of christianity like the crusades and inquistion. Or the government banning gay marriage just cause the bible says its wrong but they have "no comment" when stuff happens with their priests. Or how when trying to read a book on religion and have people looking at it and saying "god bless you" when they walk away. Its not so much anger, more like a big "what the ****" kinda deal. Atheists are the least trusted group in america, but were just being logical. Its not all fair.

I AM actually angry at "people of faith," although since there are no gawds I can't be angry at THEM.

Why?

Because they have controlled society for all of history, and I blame most of the messes we've got on them. Yes, even in the "communist" countries -- didn't you know that Stalin gave up on a Bolshevik atheist state and started granting privileges to the Russian Orthodox Church, at the same time as he attacked other religions?

Ya'll are so obsessed by your views that even in secular states you keep trying to encode your "faith" into law.

I'm sick of it. I hate it. And you make me angry.

So you don't like it? Tough. You Christians are just one of the latest versions. So it's your turn.

Want it to stop? Go back into your closet like one of the disciples of your executed criminal messiah said -- pray in there, keep your religion out of public view, and I won't hate you.

Oh, and wash your hands afterwards.

I wasn't aware I was
They aren't actually angry at your god. For example if you say your god is all loving and all powerful and I say then why does a child die of poverty every minute- i'm not actually blaming your god - I'm asking YOU how do you reconcile the two.

Possibly because they aren't on R & S accusing atheists of being angry at their gods when they have in fact just completely misunderstood the point.

From this atheist's perspective: I am (edit: forgot the word) NOT necessarily angry at people of faith. I have many friends, acquaintances and contacts who are from all backgrounds.

I am, however, bothered by the way religion is used as a tool to suppress others: jihads, holy wars, brainwashing, hate-crimes, murder, intolerance, ignorance, persecution...the list goes on and on in terms of what is, and has, been done in the name of "god"....a mythical fantasy creature designed by mankind in order provide comfort and to quell fears of the unknown.

Why? Maybe because my older kids are stalked by Teens for Christ at their supposedly public school. Maybe because at the same school the science teacher teaches evolution and big bang because he has to, but afterwards rebutts it because he is a Christian and believes in a creator. Maybe because I am told it's crazy not to believe in God, that the Gospel makes so much sense--and am told this who believe all the evil is in the world because a talking snake convinced a naked woman it was okay to eat a piece of fruit. Real rational, there. Maybe because my youngest kid gets asked to go to fairy tale study--sorry, Bible study--at her afterschool care when I have insisted she not participate. Maybe because they talk about evidence (like of God or the resurrection) when they have none, but ignore evidence (like science) when there is plenty. Maybe because they want freedom of religion--but only for people who think just like them. Maybe because they claim this country was founded on Christians values, when it was founded on imperialism, slavery and genocide. Maybe because they respect the sanctity of life--as long as that life is white, American, and unborn. Maybe because they-----hey, how long a list do you want?

If the religious didn't try to legislate their archaic beliefs on the rest of society I wouldn't be nearly as angry about it.

Also religion get's a free pass on just about anything. If there were a group of say car enthusists who routinly molested kids in their garages and then instead of getting in trouble for it was just shipped to another garage the general public would riot. Instead of still have people in Catholic churches every week becuase it's religious people that committed those crimes.

If an old guy grabbed a baby, slit his forskin and then sucked the kid's penis until the foreskin came off, peopel would freak out but hacedic jews do this all the time and it's okay because it's a religious practice.

The list goes on and on and on

I have a problem with faith. It makes me so angry that people refuse to question things. It makes me angry that I am looked at as th bad guy because I don't blindly follow without question. Faith holds back progression of society and it makes me angry that people cannot see that.

When christians try to insert their religious beliefs into science curricula, or into government, they make themselves targets. No other religion does this, therefore they are not targeted. No atheist is angry at your non-existent god, only at its believers.

I think its because they wish they werent so "enlightened" and burdened with "knowing" that there is nothing out there, even if they cannot prove it.

If you go their way, there is nothing to look fwd to and the end of their days but a hole in the ground. Maybe its pure jealousy, because believers have something to look fwd to.

They will porbably say it is because of all the wars and stuff from religon that they hate it, but i never see them bagging on the muslims.

they are probably afraid that they if they offend a muslim, they will figure out their IP address and come after them. They must really be scared.
