OK on Friday the drivers qualify. After everyone goes NASCAR checks to see who had the fastest time. They get the pole.Ex:Pole winner Dale Earnhardt Jr 48:00:32.Then on Sunday the green flag drops, they start in the order they qualified (in this case Dale Jr.).Until there is a crash or debris on the track, there is a yellow flag they go about three laps slowly with the pace car on front of them, pace car-a car that comes out during a caution period, when they clear it...GREEN FLAG.If there is a huge wreck there is a red flag.Which means to stop.Every team has a crew chief, tire changers, tire carriers, gasmen, gas can catch man, jackman,a spotter, and an extra man.Whenever the car,say #2 Kurt Busch in the Miller Lite Dodge came down pit road, needs fuel he goes down pit road.It takes about 14 seconds to make a pit stop. They go around, it depends how many miles the track is,say the Daytona track is 1 mile, since it is called the Daytona 500 they go around 500 times.Until they make it to lap 500 there is a white flag, last lap, then here comes Dale Earnhardt Jr in the #88 Mountain Dew Chevrolet in turn 4 CHECKERED FLAG,winner,Dale Jr wins. Now that the race is over the next week will be at California Speedway.A driver gets 190 points per win with most laps led. When they get to race 26 Richmond there are twelve Chasers,or playoff makers, they get a run to the championship. The standings are like this:
1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 5050
2 Jeff Gordon 5045
3 Jimmie Johnson 5040
4 Casey Mears 5035
5 Kurt Busch 5030
6 Kyle Busch 5025
7 Tony Stewart 5020
8 Clint Bowyer 5015
9 Martin Truex Jr 5010
10 Paul Menard 5005
11 Mark Martin 5000
12 Juan Pablo Montoya 5000
At race 36 the finale at Homestead say Jr is still the leader if he wins he automatically clinches the Sprint Cup.So Jr is the champion.

Is this a legitimate question or just another opportunity to bash the sport? The best way to learn about the sport is to watch and listen. There’s no quick way. It’s the same with any sport. There are people who just watch baseball and people who can tell you every aspect about the game. The casual fan pays attention to the action and the diehard is looking at all of the strategy from an in depth perspective as well as the action. If you don’t want to put forth the effort to learn about the sport then just be content with watching 43 cars go around in a circle. That’s about all you’ll get out of it.

There is an adrenalin rush that goes with the power of the engines and the speed of the cars in such close proximity. Then there is the rumble of the ground, and the air, and the smell of exhaust...etc. Once you have been to a race, you will either be a fan for life, or never go back.
Go Jr.>>>>

Much more than the rules make it interesting. The best advise I can give is to watch it for a season then make up your own mind if you find it interesting or not. There is not enough space here (or time to type) to tell you what makes it interesting.

Alright everyone says NASCAR has no meaning. Wrong, the rules are very easy to comprehend. I was a fan since 1995, I'm 15 now. First thing choose a driver your comfortable with, don't jump on a band wagon choose your style of driver aggressive or clean racer. Than if you want to head to a live event it's awesome. Then from there keep an eye for your favorite driver and keep your fingers crossed for a victory. Hopefully this helps you!

Hi there. If you are serious about winting to know more about the sport and the rules, feel free to pm me and I can help you, but its rather difficult unless you elaborate on which rules you are inquiring about (ie car specs, points, chase points etc).
You can go to the NASCAR site as well and read up on things.

Even though I am quite the NASCAR fan, it would take days to explain the rules and thats not even talking about the tech stuff on the race cars...you've got yellow flags, red flags, restrictor plates, pit road speed, bump drafting...the list goes on. I tried to get a rulebook but you have to buy a NASCAR membership in order to get one (which, last time I checked, was quite pricey for a stupid rulebook). Try searching "nascar rules" on the internet or go on NASCAR's website and look for a tab that says "NASCAR 101".

I don't think that Nascar could even explain the rules, since they change them at will !
