oh the odd rare occasion i go to the pub, its nice now cause im a non smoker, so i dont end up smelling awful and it gives my chest a break from wheezing. but all of my friends smoke, so they all go outside for a *** and leave me in the pub on my own.

It actually helped me quit... I still have the occasional smoke when I'm out. Even as a ex-smoker I think it is a load of crap to ban it in all public places. America (where I am) was built on the back of the tobacco industry for starters. Second, why should anyone else care what the help someone else is putting into their body? I respect your right to be in a non-smoking environment, but at least allow smoking rooms or smoking near the doors. In Chicago you can't smoke within 15 feet of the door! What kind of crap is that? It gets really damn cold here and if I'm outside I want to be able to get back in as quickly as possible.

I'm a smoker and I prefer going to pubs now that they are smoke free. Just because I am a smoker doesn't mean that I like the smell or smoke in my eyes when 20 other people in the room are lighting up. It's much better in restaurants now too. I don't mind going outside because 1) I don't like smoking around people who don't smoke 2) My clothes and hair doesn't smell as much when I smoke outside and 3) When it's freezing and raining outside I can't be bothered to go for a cigarette so that means I save money lol.

I love the smoke free environment. I do now go to the pub for the quiz. I never went in the past because of the smoke. One man's loss is another man's gain.

I haven't been to the pub for a drink for ages, we don't have any decent ones where I live, the ones near my house are all "old man" pubs that are dark and dingy with dirty carpets. I actually do prefer the smoke free environment.

As a non-smoker I don't mind a smoking or non-smoking environment. I don't go out to pubs much now though, as i don't have anyone to go with!!

You must be in Europe somewhere....

But over here in the States, it's been in effect for about 2 years now in my state.

It really doesn't bother me much since I'm an occasional smoker, and it is kinda nice to get home and not smell like an ashtray (whether you smoke or not).

I do feel bad for smokers in the winter, they have to stand outside in the cold (snowing/raining) while they smoke.

Some bars/pubs/clubs have created heated outdoor smoking areas just for them.

I hate the smoke free crap cuz i think it's discrimination. when its a crappy day it really sucks when ur at the bar and u got to go outside to smoke. But i smoke a lot when i drink so the next day its nice cuz i feel better. I dont smoke as much now.

I only go to the pub to "EAT" - as long as it is good food.

Not the cheap cr@p they make out to be home made .....UGH...

Although I do not smoke. Feel the ban is taking away OUR rights.

Would YOU ask an elderly gentleman who fought our wars to get out because of smoking.......? I think not.

It's all a farce and bloody disgusting. The good old British pub is on it's way out.
