I believe. If I dont believe in the "afterlife" then the question of existence and its purpose becomes meaningless. I cant accept that All this struggle and events of this life will become as "nothing"??. If we apply today's scientific knowledge, nothing goes against the belief in "afterlife". Today we all know and measure everything in our life with respect to time. But what is time? No one has ever defined what exactly it is. We all know it is always moving in the forward direction. For any single man the time limit is fixed. from his birth to his death. After that what next? This question cannot be answered by any science alone without applying religous belief. As per the most popular religous beliefs, the life after death is there. Almost 80% of the world population believe in the "after life". Christianity, Judaism, islam, Hinduism all believe in the afterlife. It is only the duty of each one of us to identify the correct one. The first 3 religions in the above list believes in a similar type of afterlife. That is an eternal life without any time limit is awaiting us after the Judgement Day, depending on the actions of this life. Whoever does good things in this world will have a good life later. Whoever does more bad things will have a similar bad life later. Even if you dont really believe this phenomena also , at least we can discuss if this kind of thinking will improve the present human life or degrade it.

Of course. The only hope is in the messiah however. To think that this is all there is. If I didn't have the Lord, what would I hope for? Hillary? GW? Stop global warming? Save all your money while you are working and live the good life during retirement?

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
This is a promise to God's children.

We r not only this Physical body. There are three bodies, 1 physical body (which we can seen), 2 Subtle Body (which is made up of man, buddhi, chitt & ahenkar), 3 (Aatma). "afterlife" means our physical body finished, but our subtle body travell & get another physical body ( New Born Child). The process is going on until the subtle body finished.
(How subtle body finish, this is not the part of this Question, but if u want to know u can ask me)

No, because I am interested in life here, now.

I am absolutely for life, so much so that I am ready to drop God, paradise, heaven -- everything! Life is so precious; everything can be dropped for it.

What begins in sowing the seed, grows, and one day the one seed has become thousands of seeds. That's what you call your crop. It is the same seed which has exploded into thousands of seeds. No death is intervening, no afterlife is needed; it is a continuum.

Friend,

I believe in life after death.

The Indian Sanatana Dharma scriptures repeatedly affirm this in logical way.one has to have patience to read these scriptures and Upanishads and the Bhasyams (Commentaries of the difficult -to -understand scriptures).
There is so much about this topic in Brahma Sutras by Veda Vyaas too.
I personally believe and my answer is '' YES.''

i beleive that people need to come to terms with the fact that when you die, you're dead. i have never seen any evidence of an afterlife. neither has any dead person i have questioned about it. maybe people should stop blaming that rocking chair that moved all by it's self on a ghost. your government wants you to beleive that the sacrafices we make for their lofty causes will be rewarded some day. they won't. grow up.
