It sounds to me like he has a hairball and that is normal for cats. Sometimes it can take up to 3 days for it to come out and be prepared it is gross but your friend will feel better immediately and begin playing. If he doesn't feel better in a couple of days call the local vet and ask what they recommend. Otherwise just wait it out and he will be fine.

More than likely ate some tinsel, ribbon or tree needles (real or fake) and probably has a blockage. This is very serious. You might want to get the cat checked by a vet and FAST. If there is a blockage it can lead to sepsis and / or death. Do not wait, get the cat checked.

Edit - It could also be an allergic reaction to the food the cat is eating. Take some dry food in a baggy with you to the vet (just in case).

Edit-Edit: The clear liquidy vomit sounds like what happend to our cat pepper. She had an allergic reaction to the food and developed IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). It got very bad because her intestines swelled and could not move any particles. She would not eat and would only drink a little, but when she did she would vomit a frothy bile. This is VERY SERIOUS. They had to take her into emergency surgery and had to remove some of her intestines and put her on a medication.

I hope everything works out okay for you.

All the above answers are good. I have two further ideas, if everything checks out OK at the vet.
1. Cats overeat sometimes. Then they vomit. It's like they have bulimia or something. One of my cats does this all the time. It's good in nature. They eat their kill quickly before another animal runs them away from it. Then later, at the den--- they throw it up. Later, when they are hungry, they eat it. I know it's gross, but if it's not "sick vomit" they will eat it.
2. If I go away for a long time, my cats "punish" me by ignoring me for a while. Then things go back to normal. I think their feelings get hurt.

Does he go out of the house? He might be bitten under his fur. My cat reacted like that when he came home from a cat fight and there were no visible signs because of his fur coat. Food poisoning is also a possibility. In any case don't wait for guesses, get him to the vet.

Call the vet---he might have some kind of weird virus, or maybe he ate something that is toxic.

Are you and your family putting anything in the Christmas tree water to help it stay fresh longer? If you are, then he might be drinking it and that might be what is making him not feel well.

i think sorry which you had to pass with the aid of this. Please be conscious that no longer all Christians are like this. My mom grow to be very be responsive to-how of my being a Hellenic Polytheist. The media as an entire would not portray Buddhism as a "undesirable" faith. notwithstanding the a number of greater fundamentalist, evangelical preachers portray something that may no longer Christian as evil. while you're chuffed as a Buddhist pass with the religion that motives you the least suffering.

maybe, it suffers from separation anxiety. call the vet. you don't have tinsel on the christmas tree, do you. tinsel is not good for dogs or cats.

Don't wait...take your cat to the vet...may have eaten something toxic or may just have an infection.
