Now, this question is not for those who want to simply "believe" the things they were taught without thinking about it.

John 3:22 says that Jesus was with his disciples in the land of Judea and Baptized.

There is no written record of what was said at this ceremony of Baptism. And yet this is the first Christian baptism. So, do you really believe that you know what was going on in an intimate ceremony that was taking place 2000 years ago?

If you want the context of this question, it came up in my mind as I was reading the 7th chapter at http://gospelenigma.com That book highlights a number of puzzles that you don't normally hear about in Sunday school.

The Baptizm of Christ was not just a water baptism. You might note Jesus is the bridegroom and it is significant that he himself was water baptized.

What were the customs of a Biblical marriage?

First, there is a marriage contract – usually by the father, and within their own family or clan, the bridegroom pays a dowry for the bride. (Didn’t Jesus pay the price?) Next, which could take place at anytime, as there was no set time, the bridegroom accompanied by his friends would go to the house of the bride at midnight with a “parade” in the streets calling his bride. Get this, the bride would wait, she would know at some point this event was going to take place! She would ready herself and listen for the call of the bridegroom! Doesn’t this illustrate Matthew 25:1-13! (the ten virgins) The last part of the “wedding ceremony” was the marriage supper which might go on for days as illustrated in the wedding at Cana in John 2:1-2. If you study Jewish tradition you soon find out that there are many steps to a “marriage” such as:
Both bride and groom have undergone the waters of mikveh or immersion – Yeshua (Jesus) did this at the beginning of His ministry ( Mat. 3: 13-17) and we His bride in the cleansing waters( Eph.5:26-27, I Cor. 6:11).

It definitely was not the first christian baptism. John the baptist preceeded christs ministry by several years and was killed close to the beginning of christs ministry. He baptised many. In fact Paul found several people who had received "John's baptism. John baptised Jesus early on.

Peter James and John were introduced to the gospel by John the baptist. I think they did not get baptised, but may have since there is no recording of them getting baptised. Perhaps this baptism you are talking about was to baptise the disciples who were not baptised. This had to be done at some point or anther before they became Apostles, which they did later on.

My friend, you just threw out all of the law of the land! You said, "with His disciples" and there were 12 disciples. It takes 12 jurors to decide every law in every court in America.

I certainly do believe that I know what happened in a private ceremony that Jesus performed 2000 years ago because of 12 eye witnesses that wrote it down.

Let me explain something to you. Two words from God and you will never forget those 2 words for the rest of your life. There is something about the voice of God that is unforgettable. Jesus even said that He was giving us the Holy Spirit to bring all things to our remembrance. Even if we wanted to forget, we can't. God spoke 2 words to me. I know.

Edit: Most writings about Jesus were written long before Jesus came into the world. Prophets wrote of His coming as they were inspired by Almighty God.

The Bible is the most contested book ever written by many authors and it has withstood the test of time. No multitude of words written by mere man have ever distinquished its fire, its life and its wisdom. All writers were inspired by God. And two witnesses are coming that cannot be silenced until God allows their silencing. They cannot be killed until God allows their death and no man will bury them. They will be called back up into heaven. Tribulation is coming for those who have rejected Jesus Christ. You will see these witnesses. When you see them, fall down upon your knees and ask the Lord to save your soul and forgive your sins.

Every prophesied prophecy has been or will be fulfilled that is written in the Bible, the Holy Word of God.

That was already proved incorrectly interpreted. Jesus was baptized but did not go about baptizing people as John did. John was first to prepare the way.. and Jesus is the Way.

If you only websites and books about the negatives of faith and the Bible, you will arrive at the cynicism you are displaying in this "question." Yes, I believe that John, the cousin of Jesus baptized Him as the prelude to His years of teachings. These are puzzles only if you don't have the wisdom (usually considered the Holy Spirit, and also faith) to understand what you are reading.

You are assuming the Bible was written as a 'record' and it was not. The New Testament was actually first penned around 400-500BC. Several generations after Jesus and his disciples had been long dead. Assuredly passed down for several generations through the families of the 12 disciples. This isn't hear-say or an assumption, this is quite known through historic record.

Did a historical Jesus exist?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm
[Excerpt]

ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS

No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.
