My backspace doesn't seem to be working properly in Microsoft word:

If I delete a letter at a time it works

BUT, if I highlight a sentence / a few words then press backspace it doesn't work anymore, I have to press 'delete'.

It used to work properly (a day or two ago) I suspect I've inadvertently changed a setting.
How can I fix it?

No sweat. This is a Word option setting:

1. Click on the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the Edit tab.
3. Under Editing Options, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selection".
4. Click OK.

That should do it.

In Word 2003 or earlier, click on Tools | Options | Edit tab | check the "Typing replaces selection" box | OK.

In Word 2007, click on Office Button | Word Options | Advanced | check the "Typing replaces selected text" box | OK.

Go to start
settings
control panel
and check in there for some sort of setting on your font, text, something like that.
Try all you tabs in that section too.
I can't remember where that solution would be found though.
Just experiment.
