Our family spent Tuesday puttering around the house, tidying up, taking care of some paperwork, doing laundry, catching up on e-mail, etc.

I guess we did all those "around the house" things that non-Jews do on Saturdays, while we're observing Shabbat.

I was in Las Vegas this year with only my husband. I wasn't aware of it being xmas but to me that is not a day that really registers- it's just *not* our holiday in any way as much as some people try to say it's secular in America- it isn't, it's somebody else's religious day. It blurred into the other days of the past week- as usual. I can't recall ever- on any year- being particularly aware that it was xmas unless I wanted to go somewhere that was closed.

May I answer, though I am not Jewish? I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and we too do not celebrate Christmas.

Tuesday December 25th was a normal school day for me- I had an exam (and I aced it, may I add :-D)

Work was closed so I took a personal day and relaxed... I wanted to go see a movie but most of my friends are christian and couldn't spend time away from their families...

My family was in Chicago for a wedding that I, sadly, was not invited to... So I just laid around the house and read (couldn't watch TV... nothing but christmas specials... so boring)

Since the company where I work was closed, I stayed home. We had a few people over to play board games. If they hadn't been there I would've seen a movie. Pretty much like any other day off.

It's a federal holiday so I took off as my office was closed.

Otherwise just a normal day.

My friend, a Jew, had the day off work, because they weren't open for business.

I can't possibly see how it could be a "normal" day as most establishments are closed for the "holiday"

The same thing you did for Beltane, or the first day of Ramadan, or for Dawali....nothing. If its not your religion, why would you celebrate its holiday?
This year we were sick, we slept all day and drank DayQuil.

My jewish friends celebrate the day. They open gifts (they save some from Chanukah), but do not have a tree or mention Jesus or anything. They just have a dinner and open a few gifts left over from Chaunkah.

The standard joke is to hit a movie and either a deli or a Chinese place.

Christmas is a pretty universal American holiday.
