I started taking adderall about 2 years ago because of Chronic fatigue, and I smoked cigarettes, which make you tired. I've taken it ever since just because it gets me up and going every day and because I smoked and it countered the tiredness I got from smoking, but I quit smoking and I'm getting a lot more energy now. If I go off of the adderall, can I join the army? It's not for ADHD, and that should make a difference, shouldn't it? I had quit taking it for about 2 months, a year or so back, but then went back on it. Can I still join? Would I need to be off of it for a year, even though I was taking it to counter the tiredness from smoking? thank you.

Um, Ive been smoking for a long time... and smoking doesnt make me tired. Just admit that you are a pill popper. Dont try to make excuses.
And NO the Army will not take you as a drug addict.
If you quit taking it then you might be able to. They will ask you about your drug use, and you will have to tell them the truth. Then it is up to them if they let you join.

If its prescribed yeah, however if its not you need to quit and tell them about it so they can make a decision. My fiancee still smokes, and he's an infantryman in the Army.

SAdly enough, alot of people do get away with lying about drug problems. But your "reason" for taking adderall is stupid. Adderal is a powerfull mix of Dextroamphetamine and Amphetamine. Its crack in pill form. Now, if you were saying you took NoDOz to combat fatigue, i might believe you, but one the most powerfull Amphetamines currently available? Yeah Right!

yeah, i've smoke as well and it never made me tired. you're addicted to amphetamines, that's all there is to it. and its not like the army doesn't let smokers in...they aren't the pickiest organization. though boot camp is easier if you're not a smoker since they won't let you smoke while you're there. i'd stop making excuses for yourself (in reference to the pills) one thing the army HATES is excuses. that will get you in more trouble than anything.

Don't tell the doc's about your adderall use,and give yourself a couple months to flush your system so you don't flunk urinalysis or blood test.Lots of cranberry juice will flush your kidneys.

are you prescribed them? for ANY reason? if so, you MUST be off them at least 12 months before a waiver will be considered. If you are just taking them without a doctor's supervision, your are a drug user and thus ineligible to enlist.
