well after i install it in my new desktop pc it takes up 3.16gb in my HDD

coz it only takes up 1.16gb in my old laptop

*Note* no other softwares in both pc just xp

the specs of my new desktop is
intel core 2 duo e4400 2.0ghz
2gb ram
asus p5gc-mx
nvidia geforce 7200 256mb
200Gb HDD

my old laptop
intel T1300 1.66ghz
256mb ram
60 gb HDD

It is packed with government spyware to keep tabs on you. It was the secret upgrade they forced on software manufacturers last year.

In addition to the 2 Windows service packs, theres the following to take into account:
1. The windows Paging file (Swap file) that can typically eat up anything from 512Mb - 2Gb
2. Your User profile(s) and settings (Which are stored on a per user basis)
3. Constant windows updates (and their backups)
4. Additional System Restore points

It might be worth downloading and installing CCleaner to check for and remove any temporary files left over from any additional program installations

Windows XP needs a swap file for its smooth operation that gets bigger and bigger......may be thts the reason.

It really shouldn't, but I can tell you don't get Vista because it takes up even more!

if you install XP sp1 it will be less than XP sp2, so may be you make it like these...
