From the moment of conception; God says that He knew us from the time we were in our mother's womb. Since the cells divide and the creation is taking place almost immediately after the sperm enters the egg, there is a new life, a new human being of extraordinary value.

Traditionally the Church teaches that new life begins at the moment of conception or; when Mr. Sperm penetrates Miss Egg.

Personally I don't think so. It makes more sense to count from the moment the genetic package is complete and the new cell is genetically identical to the whole body which will grow from it. And that occurs AFTER the meiotic dance and the casting off of the polar body, probably three or more hours after penetration of the egg by the single fortunate sperm.

Catholics believe that life is a sacred gift from God and needs to be treated with all human dignity from the moment of conception to the point of natural death.

The Catholic Church is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
+ All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
+ The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
+ The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanasia
+ Prisoners in objecting to torture and the death penalty
+ The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2270 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art5.htm#2270

With love in Christ.

I want to know when people here think that life begins!

I used to think it was at the union of sperm and egg, the flash of life, etc. But now I am thinking maybe its actually when the fertilized egg matures and erupts from the ovary. I know that is an odd thing to think, but it makes more sense to me, since the egg has all the vital material for life. The implications of that, if it were true, however would be interesting.

Most who have studied scriptures know that people are made in the Image of God and that God is Spirit .. and that God knows us before we are formed in our mothers wombs.

After that ... at the moment of the sperm meeting the egg and joining a new human is made.

roman Catholics are a joke they follow a book that isn't the true word of God. I don't think God's happy with u ppl for altering his words so u can be consciously happy to commit sin.
