Hi I am 23 yrs old & turn 24 yrs next year in summer. Well I've been into reading military books since I was 12 yrs old & thats how I got into it. I've been working at a restaurant for 3 yrs now & I want to be somebody & do something in my life. My cousin he served in the US Navy & he didn't like it. But, he said he learn allot. My grandpa he served in the USAF & he like it. He even bought WW2 plain. Anyways, he told me the US Coast Guard is good & interesting. I do like the water but, I do NOT want to be a sailor & I want to be a food soldier. I am not perfect & confident of myself.

Which branch in my looking for? Marines? I do not care about boot camp or money. What is good for me? If I do not join the military, would I regret it later?

There is nothing wrong with joining the military. The choice is yours in the end. The benefits are great and the experience is excellent.
Now for which branch you should join...
You need to do some research about what kind of job you want in the military. Do you want to be a Military Police officer, or a mechanic fixing tanks or hummers , or sit at a desk , or doctor , or a vet? These are all jobs you can do in the military. Do some research on line or go in and ask recruiters. There shouldn't be any pressure to join when you just want information.
Be sure you get the job you want okay. Because from experience you want to get a job you enjoy. Because after boot camp its just a job, and nobody want to be at a job that they hate.
You also have to think about the war that is going on right now. Are you willing to serve your country not just in this war, but in any war?
Go for it though, i loved being a Marine and so did my Husband

You can be a ground pounder in any service, to an extent. The Army has the Infantry, and all types of Special Forces jobs. The Marines of course have the same. The Navy has Special Ops, as does the AF. But yes, if you just want to be strictly Infantry, there are really only two choices (Army or Marines).

And no, the AF does not necessarily give the "best" training. Stop repeating what they tell you at your "right decision" briefings whoever said that. Your level of training will far more depend on your career choice, regardless of service. For example, if you want to work on a nuclear sub, the Navy would know about that. If you want to be a Veterinarian, the Army does that. If you want to do drug interdiction on the US coastline, the Coasties might know about that. And so on, and so forth.

Whether or not you will regret your decision is something only you would know. And it's something you would probably only discover by taking the plunge. Good luck with your decision.

If you want to be a foot soldier then the Marines and the Army would be your best choices. I was Air Force and liked it. You will get the best training in the Air Force and Navy if you are looking to learn good job skills. I cannot answer if you would or would not regret it later. But in the greater scheme of things, 4 years is a pretty short period and whether you like it or not, you will be glad you served in the long run.

I've been serving in the Navy for 10+ years and I have loved it. I have only served on a ship for 2 years, and even then I loved the traveling. I've been to 17 different countries, lived in 3 of them, and am currently serving in the special operations community and have been deployed to 'the desert' three times.

The navy has bases in great locations, you get to move around a little more frequently than the other services, and the navy is better in allowing you to choose where you want to go from tour to tour. I've got Army and Marine buddies that are told where they are going, and with little notice.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck and be safe.

As far as being a foot soldier, the Army and Marines are it. My personal opinion would be the Marines, there is a lot more heritage and respect that comes with being a Marine. Good luck with your future and congratulations for realizing that working at a restaurant is not a career that is going to get you anywhere in life.

I am a 15 year navy vet, got hurt in 1988 and am disabled, I think the military presents good oppurtunity, I would reommend Air Force or Navy, I think they present better educational oppurtunities and build for jobs outside the military. I would also recommend waiting until this administration leaves office, I still spend some time feeling sorry for myself aabout getting hurt, but I am glad I never had to serve under this bunch of crooks.

Army or Marines, I'd pick the Army (personal preference if I were going to be a foot soldier),and they all have some amazing opportunities, can help pay for college, if you live on base they can give a housing allowance. What you get out of it is what you want to get, you need to be assertive, confident and know when it's time to shut your mouth (boot camp will DEFINITELY instill these qualities in you.

If you want to be a foot soldier, Marines and Army are your only choices.
Army 11B - Infantry
Marines.. I cant remember the MOS number
Marines are more gung-ho about everything, you will learn many ways to fight and kill.
The Army you will learn many ways to fight, but also you will learn how to sustain after the fighting is over.

Which one you join is really just opinion. As much bickering as We (the Army) do with the USMC, its all in good fun. We all know that we are brothers in arms and nothing, not even our branch of service, can come between that.

Get a college degree, marry a pretty girl with money.

VN vet 101st Airborne Divison 68/69 Infantry 11b10. War is no fun son. Bruce Willis and Sly Stalone both non-vets make it look fun but skiing is much more fun and a cold beer.
