I say the best way is to leave the cage on the floor, with fresh food and water, keep the doors leading outside the house shut though, or u might not see your hamster again!

Try a rat trap
Gee I M sorry. Other than some sort of trap that can capture them without harm, I think the best you will be able to do is to keep his cage door open and monitor it closely

WOW, that takes me back 25 years. My sons got out of his hands and went under the kitchen cabinets. He finally came out. After we tore the kitchen apart.
