that knew everything, could do anything and could be anywhere in space and time would be like one of these abrahamic protrayals?

The bible makes god seem so arbitrarily petty and vain and childish... and not even a good child but a spoiled rotten child... yet you can really picture an infinite being ... like that?
It just doesnt make any sense at all...

He is who He is. Is that so impossible to believe?. Are you who you are?
Is that impossible? Many things that we think are impossible are possible. Look at science and inventions that years a go you have thought were impossible.
Or, if you think about it, how is the fact that we are alive with minds that think, and bodies that are able to procreate possible? All things are possible with God.

God is found through the gift of faith, the knowledge can come from reason, like what a theologian does, but most people just know and if you don't its because that gift hasn't been given to you. Children seem to understand from the very beginning but they can be lured away by the distractions of the world. Adults get cynical, angry, bitter its like a wall that gets higher as the years go by..you can't understand why things happen the way they do. I don't think anyone can help another understand unless your willing to just let go and open your heart to Him.

I look at it from this perspective, I was raised a Roman Catholic (although I'm no longer a practicing one,) and on the one hand you had as a child the Sunday School teacher talking of a benevolent God. Then you would look in the bible and it has many portrayals of a vengence filled God.

My point is, that God (or whomever you refer to as the omnipresent deity, being etc,) represents a higher existance that is of us all. We love, we hate, we give life, we take life, so doesn't it make sense that a being that gave us existance, (or co-exists with us,) would embody the same sentiments as are visible in our own daily lives?

The Holy Bible is a book influenced by the social and political concerns of those who edited it.

It also seems important to consider that each individual consciousness is linked with Superconsciousness so an intermediary being could be used as a messenger.

I really feel sorry for you my friend. I did not say this, but the Bible says in Psalm 14:1:The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.( King James Version )

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showth his handiwork. Psalm 19:1. Do you really think that this earth just evolved all by itself? According to the Bible, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

I really don't know what kind of bible you are reading from to get the ideas you have, but my bible DOES NOT protray my Lord as petty, vain, childish, or a spoiled rotten child.

My bible protrays him as being so kind, loving, and considerate that He would send his only begotten Son to die on an old rugged cross for sinful mankind such as you and me. All we have to do is just believe, but that is so hard for some people.

Jesus is not a creature! He came as a lowly servant. To die for you, but he is God in the flesh acording to John1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. ( John 1:10 )

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. ( John 1:14 )

I was miserable, blinded by my sin, and felt that I had to do something to merit going to Heaven. I tryed many years to be good and do good deeds, it got me nowhere. I was still lost, miserable and blind to the fact that I didn't have to work for passage to heaven. That the Savior died to give me free access, if only I would believe in Him. I did and peace flooded my soul like I have never felt before!

You may not believe in God, that is your right. God doesn't force anyone to believe, but he still died for you. He has a free gift of salvation and a way to escape hell fire. All it takes is from your heart to believe in God and that he died for you, and ask him to forgive you for your sin.

I hope before it is too late you accept this wonderful free gift he is offering.

I will be praying for you that God will open your heart and mind to the trueth.

You're right, a God that is capable of everlasting love would not behave the way that the God in those scriptures does. I do think that it's in the best interest of some, though, to have the people continue to believe in such a deity:(

No, the bible doesn't. When you READ it, and see the fulfillment of prophesy and how from the VERY begining things were designed so that every little detail falls in to place.....and to take it a step further, as a CHRISTIAN to see those things cause your life today to fall into place. Wow...... It's sounds cheesy, I know, but you have to experience it to really get it.
I know you may not agree, but I am trying to answer this question sincerely from my perspective using my experiences.

Wow. Don't you know that God Is Holy? What happened in many of your lives to make you hate or disbelieve in a God that loves you with an Everlasting Love?

If the rest of the world thought that way then this would truly be a great time to live in. No gods to poison and corrupt our society.
