Go to 'control panel' and remove the program via the 'Remove Software' method!!
Then TELL the computer provider to COME TO UR HOUSE AND INSTALL IT PROPERLY! Otherwise you tell Microsoft that you believe that the provider of the computer supplied an illegal PRODUCT KEY for the windows installed as he 'begged you' not to inform them of the problem!!!!!
... They will make him!!!

When you say it was a "major pain to get defender pro off my computer". Does this mean you have removed 100%. Go to the tray, start, run and type in: c://program files, click on browse, and click on program files. Look to see if the name of the file is still there. If so delete. If file says being used by another software reboot and try again.

Go to start, search and type in: Defender Pro, and let your PC search for all related files. Delete from top to bottom. If any refuse to delete, reboot and try again.

Have you tried to perform a system restore??. If not go to start, accessories, system tools and open system restore. Look for a date before you had the problem and if there is a system restore, then restore your PC. This should resolve the problem. Being you will go back to your last good configuration.

Go to your Add or Remove in the control panel, delete all of your antispy/virus/root programs, go to http://www.grisoft.com and download AVG Home free edition and the free Root program there.
Run the scans and leave them on for security.
They are good and non intrusive in any way.
