1) 2/6 + 6/4

You will find LCM
6 4 | 2
3 2 | 2
3 1 | 3
1 1 |
2x2x3 = 12

4/12 + 18/12 = 22/12 = 11/6

2) 3/6 x 5/4 = (3x5) / (6x4) = 15/24 = 5/8

3) 2/3 ÷ 4/3 = 2/3 x 3/4 = 2/4 = 1/2
or
2/3 ÷ 4/3 = (2÷4) / (3÷3) = (1/2) / (1) = 1/2

1) You have to make the denominators the same. You can use the LCD (least common denominator)
So, for our fractions the LCD = 12. This is the smallest number which is divisible to both 6 and 4.
After getting the LCD, you now rewrite your fractions, each having the LCD as its denominator. To get the new numerator, you divide the LCD by the original denominator and then multiply the result by the old numerator.

Therefore,
4/12 + 18/12 = 22/12 or 11/6 ANS (reduce your answer so that your numerator and denominator do not have common factor between them)

2) (3/6)(5/4) = ....
The fractions can be multiplied numerator by numerator; denominator by denominator and then simplified.
So,
15/24 = 5/8 (since 3 is common factor between the numerator and denominator)......OR.....

Looking at 3/6 you will notice this equal to 1/2. Therefore,
(1/2)(5/4) = 5/8. (If you can cancel common factors before multiplying, do so. It will make the solution easier.)

3) 2/3 ÷ 4/3. The rule for division applies also to fraction.
When dividing, we can get the reciprocal of the divisor. Then, we proceed to multiply the dividend by this reciprocal.
So,
2/3 ÷ 4/3 = 2/3 x 3/4 = 1/2 (we cancel the 3's and reduce the answer, 2/4, to 1/2)

Hope I help you.

(1) 2/6 + 6/4

Okay, first you need a common denominator. You can achieve this by multiplying each denominator times each other.

6*4 = 24

If you noticed that 6 and 4 also go into 12, well done. 12 is the lowest common denominator in this case, but we'll go with 24 for purposes of demonstrating how you can do this.

Okay, so now we need to put both fractions in terms of 24ths. This is done by multiplying the top and the bottom by the same number so as to make the bottom 24.

2/6 * 4/4 = 8/24
6/4 * 6/6 = 36/24

Now, we can do the math.

8/24 + 36/24 = 44/24

Now reduce 44/24 by dividing both the numerator and the denominator by 4.

44/24 = 11/6 = 1 5/6

(2) 3/6 * 5/4

In a way multiplication is easier. Simply multiply the numerators and the denominators to achieve your answer.

3/6 * 5/4 = 15/24

Again, reduce.

15/24 = 5/8

(3) 2/3 / 4/3

With division, simply flip over the divisor and multiply as in (2) above. This can be done because dividing by a number (x) is the same by multiplying times the inverse of that number (1/x)

2/3 / 4/3 = 2/3 * 3/4 = 6/12 = 1/2

Good luck with your math!

1) 2/6 = 4/12
6/4 = 18/12
_____________
22/12 0r 11/6 or 1 5/6

2) 3/6 x 5/4 = 15/24 or 5/8 - Multiply the numerators to get the numerator of the product. Do the same for the denominators.
3) 2/3 / 4/3 = 2/3 x 3/4 = 2/4 or 1/2 (after cancelling 3)

1 change the denominators so they are the same
then add them together
4/12+18/12= 22/12=1 5/6
2 times the topp and times the bottom
3/6 * 5/4= 3*5/6*4= 15/24
3 turn the second fraction upside down and time the fractions
2/3*3/4= 2*3/3*4=6/12=1/2

1) find lowest common multiple. the lowest number that will divide by both the denominators. =12.
2*2=4 6*3=18
6*2=12 4*3=12

add top lines only=22/12=11/6=1.83

2)multiply top and bottom lines.
3*5=15
6*4=24 hence 15/24=5/8=0.625

3)inverse and multiply. swap over the second fraction and multiply.
=6/12=1/2=0.5
