First of all the Red Book is a guide and is usually out of date before it is even printed. It is hard to believe that the coin dealers in your area have coins 3X Red Book, unless you have a very old Red Book. I don't buy coins on line very often except for some world coins, medals and tokens. For U.S. coins I want to see them first and grade them myself. One can do quite well as long as one knows more about the coin series than the dealer does and he does not know I do. Next time at a dealers shop pick up a Coin World or Numismatic news, the big dealers advertise there at very competitive prices. Place a small order and see which ones you think are the best. The magazines are weekly.

There is a small waiting period before you can buy/sell/trade with other members (to protect against spammers) but after that you're good to go.
