If anything, 20 years is actually TOO LOW. Think about all of the convicts who spend all their free time in the prison law library and come out with law degrees only to turn around and start suing the state over conditions in the prison. These kids are likely to come out with PhDs, courtesy of the state!

If anything it wasn't high enough. So student loans weren't an option, oh...they would have to pay those back, that can't just steal those.

There are too many options out there to ever justify stealing.

Someone commented on the fact that they will probably come out with a PhD - fine, but with robbery on their records, they have blown their options for anything in the financial field, security and really any job that you need clear credit and good records - which is almost any corporate job these days.

Idiots, they don't deserve to be in college.

Have to agree with the judge robbery is never a way to cover expenses. Judging by the dates it seems they never really looked at other ways to raise the money like a part time job before their first robbery. I would ask how many avenues did they look at to get the money. I know of a charitiy that even gives money from federal funds in America to students. I bet they never even looked into that. As for the sentence they were armed and they could easily have shot someone in their madness.

Armed robbery of a bank...

20 years with about 10 for good behavior.

I say they got off easy considering they very well could have killed someone.

I am saying this as a college student who is taking out loans to pay for tuition.

Robbery is robbery no matter the motive. I mean if we start letting everyone steal because things aren't adding up in our check book, might as well let a robber off because his car payment was due.The school should be blamed they could have deferred their tuition.

Yes a bit harsh for robbery but you "forgot" to mention that it was armed robbery and a "minor" point of 6 charges of kidnapping. "20 years for that lot seems reasonable to me.

No. They've proven that they can't play well with others. Thieves are the lowest form of life on the planet.

The reason they needed money is inconsequential to the crime. Reasons are relative, actions are accountable.
