The nuclear bomb (atom bomb) was created by a team of scientests in the US, Canada, and UK during WWII. It is known as the Manhattan Project and was led by Robert Oppenheimer.
Oppenheimer is the founder of theoretical physics and he died in the late 60s. Before his death he questioned the responsibility science has towards humanity. My understanding is he was quite upset by the results of the bomb in world affairs and humanity in general.

Actually what you are asking is wrong. If you were alive at the time and you were amongst those who needed to win a war you didn't start but surely needed to end. I would shake his hand. Otherwise we would be eating sauerkraut and giving tribute to the world axis powers.
