I recently put some “I love my pet” flea rinse on my Chihuahua. I was wondering once I put the flea rinse in does it kill them and remain in the fur and I have to brush the dead fleas out or do the fleas fall out of the fur, dead? Because I found some flea eggs on the floor spread everywhere so maybe they fall out????

That's not flea eggs you're seeing on the floor, it's flea poo. Little black specks, right? Flea eggs are microscopic. You will find flea poo on the floor because it falls off the cat.

It's unlikely what you've used on your cat is actually going to kill its fleas. Flea traetments from pet stores do not work. You can't kill fleas with washes/shampoos, you need proper treatment from a vets like Frontline. Stores aren't licensed to sell the proper safe stuff that works.

Get some Frontline, Revolution or Advantage, and the fleas will all be dead within 24 hours. You can comb them out then, and the flea dirt (poo) will also need combing out. Now that you've washed the cat, you have to wait 24 hours before applying proper flea treatment or it can't work; you've washed off the natural oils of the skin.

Both posters are right...:-)

Fleas only use the host for feeding. When it's time to lay their eggs they usually do so in the carpet concentrating in dark, damp places. When you treat the animal - you need to treat the whole house - especially if the dog had visible fleas. Only about 10% of fleas actually live on the host.

Frontline, Advantage and Advantix are all brands that can be used on your dog. Purchasing a Capstar pill from the vet will kill fleas starting immediately for 24 hours while the flea application begins to work after about 20 minutes and lasts for sometimes a month.

To get rid of the fleas in your carpet - vacuum well. Then use a flea killing application. We have used Ortho Maximum Defense in our home with good results. After 10 days repeat the Ortho application. We purchased it at Walmart in the garden dept.

I doubt you saw flea eggs. They are too small to see with the naked eye. Usually the fleas die later after feeding on your dog's blood. You'll probably will have to brush a few fleas out.

FYI: "Frontline" is by far the best flea killer out there.

If you use Frontline, you won't have to do anything to your carpets or furniture. This stuff will take care of the worst flea infestations.

I use spot-on for all my animals it kills the fleas and they just fall out.

Flea eggs fall out naturally and hatch in your furniture and carpets, so you need to treat your floors and carpets with a flea control to break the cycle

You probably saw flea poop if it was black/dark brown.

You should also treat your carpets too, I understand fleas can live in the carpets for a long time. If you don't treat the carpets, sofa etc they might come back. You can get sprays for the carpets at the pet store.
