Im looking for a new graphics card and i got a good deal for a nvidia geforce 8500 gt. But im kind of iffy on buying it because i dont know if it supports pixel shader 3.0. Most games coming out require graphics cards with 3.0, so itll be kind of pointless to buy a card that cant play the game i buy.

It is a DX10 card that actually supports Shader 4.0, thus will meet the requirement of games requiring lower Shader versions. BUT do not expect anything spectacular from the 8500GT's lean erchitecture that has only 16 Stream Processors. 8600GT or GTS has 32 SPs, 8800GT, a whopping 112 SPs.

don't get an 8500 it's an entry level card (read laggy crap) and games that would take advantage of such advanced code would have the 8500 on it's hands and knees get at least a 8600 or 2600XT or if you wanna save some cash go with the 7600 or x1650 DX 10 unless you have a rig that costs 4 grand is a rip off (for now at least)

yes, but for games you need 8800
if it is too much cost for you better buy 8600gt
