most women ovulate 10-15 days after the FIRST day of the last period. So usually once you finish bleeding you'll ovulate about a week later and then 2 weeks after that you get your next period (or not if you are pregnant).

I find the best advice I could give you about TTC is don't have sex for 5-7 days before ovulation to store up all the good sperm, then have sex once a day, two days before ovulation, on the day and two days after. This should get you where you want to be! Also after sex, lay with a big pillow under your bum to ellevate the vagina and allow the swimmers to stay in there and have a better chance of getting to their goal!

Also sperm live for up to 72 hours depending on what 'gender' they are.
Girl sperm swim slow but last longer (so having sex before ovulation means most boy sperm will be dead by the time the egg is released meaning you may have a better chance at getting a girl)
Boy sperm swim fast but die quick so having sex on the day of ovulation (the 24hour period) means you have a better chance at getting a boy. This is by no means fool proof but gives you an idea of how it all works.

Best of luck TTC and I think the best way to actually get pregnant is to relax about it and have fun doing it! The more stressed and clinical its is the more chance you have of your body rejecting getting pregnant.

Have Fun!!

I read that ovulation occurs 14 days before your next period, not 14 days after your last period. This will especially be true if you have irregular cycles. The best way to tell is to monitor your bodily changes and you will know when you are ovulating as you will get alot of discharge.

A woman typically ovulates around mid cycle. But it's different by a few days for everyone.

If you want to know when you ovulate, go get some ovulation predictor strips and test every mid day for a couple of cycles.

From my days of trying to get pregnant I beleive that if you count from day 10 to 14 after the 1st day of your period that is your most furtile.
GOOD LUCK.
