Alcoholics - self inflicted or an illness?

Both. Like others have said, you get drunk and have fun. Who cares? 95% of the population probably do it once or twice before death!

However, there are stages:

1. You do it as a kid (7-17) for the very first time (sad, if you start younger than 15) and it's so fun. Either that, or you become an anti-alcohol Aficionado.

2. You drink more. The others who tried it once or three times and hated it, DON'T. Some of them had Drunkards for parents and it was kinda in their blood already. But they somehow, decide to quick! Good for them. GREAT even!! But you drink more. It becomes more of a habit. SELF-INFLICTED.

3. Years later, you drink a 18 pack every other day. You have the sick, sick illness that TOO many people, ESPECIALLY the beautiful females in my family, now have!!! You just keep on, cause sadly, it's ALL YOU KNOW now. You go to the clubs, EVERY weekend faithfully: With friends usually. If they're busy, you go alone. Surely, you'll run into some you know! You drink to get drunk, and no longer for fun. It becomes a sickening habit, a ritual and you just can't stop. Once you get the ILLNESS, it's a mental disease and you will 95%+ of the time, need some help to stop.

I love all people who are Drunks because they're still people. I HATE the habit and the sickness that they've helped themselves develop!

Its a person choice to start taking alcohol. And its also possible, if a person choose to do so, that he/she have self control.
