after putting the virgin disc in it starts to load and then says we need to install a ethernet card but it allready has one installed,so,how do i check to see if its working and is there another way of connecting to the internet without using the disc,many thanks and happy new year.

Have you connected a suitable cable from the netowrk port to the cable router/modem ?
Did the green light beside it light up (assuming it had a light)
Did you try simply clicking NEXT, or checking the initial "getyting started" guide for details if it needs to be set to DHCP (Auto IP assignment) or manual IP ?

Did you call Virgin helpline to guide you through it ?

just plug it in, forget the software from virgin media.

if it works..... great.


if not then look at the software.
i was with ntl then virgin media. now sky.

iv never had to use a disk yet.
