I work 12 hour midnights as a nurse and I completely agree with you. I get so angry when the day shift comes on and acts like we do nothing because we are the night shift. You really lose 2 productive days for every day you work (nap for shift and then sleep during the day after your shift). I also read a study somewhere that correlates a higher incidence of cancer with working midnights... We really don't get paid enough when you think about it. ;)

I'm at work right now. And yes, studies have been done showing people who work nights don't live as long for various reasons. I hate working nights because all I seem to do is sleep or work.

I am a night shift dispatcher and have worked this shift for 2 years now. I imagine it probably is taking years off my life, but someone has to do it. Guess I'll just have to "take one for the team".

I work 1030pm to 7 am. I don't really like it but I don't feel like it's taking years off my life. I'd like to be able to do normal things at normal times some times. Especially since my fiance is working 7am to 5pm.

That's my shift and I am a vampire. I love nights and I'll live forever by not having to get up in the morning.
