Do you back up your computer? Can you do a system restore to an earlier time when you had the programs? Do you have back-up copies or cd's/program disks of the programs that use to work to play the movies?
Divx will only work with file types like wmv and wav and such which have been converted over to it's own format, (Divx).

You are experiencing this problem because you deleted your wmv codecs. Do a search on google.com for "wmv codecs" and search for an installation package OR install windows media player (latest version) and you will get the codecs back.
Good luck.

Probably a lack of codecs on the system
install the KLITE codec pack (full) from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
