Just a random question here. I am thinking heavily of going on a trip to Europe. I'd like to travel with like a messenger bag and have a small bottle of alcohol in it. Is this legal? Can I travel from country to country with this? Or would I have to leave it where I bought it and purchase new stuff in the next country?

Yeah, that's what I meant. Forgot to put that in there...lol. I'll fly in somewhere, and purchase the alcohol there. But as I travel through Europe, I'd be taking trains or cars, etc. No flights.

There are strict regulations about carrying liquids of any kind on flights now.
I'd guess the alcohol would be confiscated if you tried to bring it onto the plane.
If you're travelling any other way then you could take as much alcohol as you could carry.

There is no law against carrying alcohol in general, but some areas may have a temporary law against alcohol.
That is often with big festivals and football matches.

And rail companies often have rules against drinking your own alcohol in the trains, mainly to be able to control a crowd from excessive drinking. But it can be applied against single passengers too, in case you misbehave.
But the rules allow you (normally) to have a normal amount in your bag.

So be careful when going into a town with a festival and keep it moderately when in the train.
In most cases you will not even notice the borders at all, and when you do they will mostly just check your papers, not your bags.
