Today's Germany isn't as bad as Nazi Germany was, they could be a decent world superpower. The 'management styles' of China and Russia are disconserting, I certainly wouldn't want them being top dog. People complain in this country, be glad you can, if China or Russia called the shots, you'd be shot for trying to complain.

If usa needed to rule the worldwide, why did no longer it take over Europe and Russia after WWI? Or WWII? I advise, in the two a sort of wars, anybody grow to be reeling (different than usa) and had usa quite needed to take over, no one else could desire to've executed something approximately it. usa isn't presently drawn to taking on the worldwide. usa in simple terms needs the worldwide to take heed to it. China does not (and could no longer) make a reliable worldwide chief at its contemporary p.c... provide it ten years, and perhaps it will give way using environmental disaster, worker scarcity (anybody's becoming previous, yet few are being youthful), or worker revolution. the U. S. won't be regular with worldwide places like, say, North Korea, or Ethiopia, or Somalia, although if it quite is acquaintances with the *quite* significant worldwide places, like the united kingdom, Japan, France, Saudi Arabia, the 'Western worldwide,' and although if we are somewhat chilly in the direction of Russia staggering now, it quite is not that undesirable. we are like a pair acquaintances who had a falling out using disagreements, and needless to say, all we could desire to do now's circulate to the bar and get under the impression of alcohol at the same time, and each thing'll be nice. in recent times, it does not truthfully remember once you're nuclear armed, in simple terms in the journey that your opponent is.

Definitely, German and Japan - would be a worse possibility
(because they are very obsessed with national pride and disrespect all other nations).
Probably the same story with China.
(in any case Asians are more tough then Europeans)

As to Russia - it's "soft" power.

I know that Americans see it differently but I know the history well.

Russia never exploited the conquested population.
Russia usually helped them

(of cause, they did it very inefficient and in a strange way).

As to USA - I would prefer the "Pax on America" in 1970-80
but not in 21 century.
America is different now.

If there must be a super power the US is probably the least harmful because most of the people don't really want to be, so serve as a check of the ambitions of the leaders. We are too diverse to buy into the arguments that we are a super race destined to rule the world as other countries have in the past. We do not really even want to spread democracy.

All the countries that you listed have at one time tried to be the superpower....but, they didn't really see it as being a super power, they saw it as conquering the world.....BIG DIFFERENCE!!!....where we see our current role as superpower as a responsibility, and try not to appear to abuse it, those other countries wanted to conquer the world to reap and rape and to get whatever else they could from the rest of the world...just look at history...look what the Germans did to the countries they conquered...they tried to eliminate a whole group of people...what Japan did to the Chinese....what the Russians did to its OWN PEOPLE!!....they had to build fences to keep people in...WE need to build a fence to keep people OUT!!!!....how blind does anyone have to be not to be able to see the difference??

Most of the folks on here that post their anti-American hate filled rants have never traveled beyond our borders. They seem to represent the spoiled, overfed, elitist, politically driven but worldly ignorant leftists who make the rest of us cringe. There are blind followers at both ends of the spectrum, but the left end is by far the most hate filled group I have ever encountered. Thanks for a rational thought from the liberal camp. It is refreshing to see that there is someone with some common sense over there.

no but i don't think America is doing much good ether. the main problem that i have is that American leaders always seam to claim the moral high ground while carrying out covert operations and supporting dictatorships on the side.

well, the point is not to have a superpower, yet have an equilibrium. otherwise civilians die from well trained professional military on daily basis without hope to have anyone defend them. thats what is happening today in iraq, afghanistan, palestine. all by courtesy of the US. over 1 million civilians dead only in the last decade.

the US is number one for scores of political murders abroad, financing & aiding terrorist groups, using military force without international approval, violating international laws and UN council decisions, using WMD against civilian population, using chemical weapon against civilian population, financing political instability and revolts in foreign countries, raising sanctions without international approval, the list goes on and on.. and it became well worse in the last 20 years. because the US can go unchecked. it resulted in a number of military campaigns under banner of war against terrorism. analyzed, the campaigns appear to be for influence and resources. like it was in kosovo. stop genocide you say? well, on much of african territory genocide goes on fro well longer and in well havier forms - has anyone worried about that? sure not - there are no convenient military bases, airport ans supply, while in europe there is plenty and easy to test weaponry. civilians die.

then afghanistan. of course it was the revenge for 9/11. but wait, who caused that? taliban and al kaeda - they both are still there. bin laden did not get a scratch. civilians die. heroin production in afhganistan raised 10 times compared to the level before US campaign there. this heroin goes to europe, russia and china then money go to finance taliban and al kaeda. civil war in afhganistan still goes on.

then iraq. i trust no special explanation is required here re oil. mr bush and mr chaney got well more wealthy. payed by tax payers and over million civilians dead in these conflicts. more die daily. even more will die in next decades in the civil wars the US started.

but who cares? john doe from ohaio knows nothing about it. he knows that he lives in the best country in the world, the most just, democratic, free and helping everyone. that's what he hear in the news, and the news won't lie.

it was the same in the SU, where i was born and lived long time. people were sure that in SU is the best country in the world and in the US greedy corporations rule things. now, when i can see both ways, i see many people in the US fall same bait i've fallen in the SU - propaganda. it's not as obvious, but it still is there and well. there is not such thing as 'free media', all of them have owners and owners have their interests, which the media shows. and people just eat it up.

so, 'doing more good in the world than any other country' is a dream. it far is not the US. if i had to pick a country indeed meeting this statement, i'd say it's switzerland.

regarding clivil liberties. can you create your own political party and get presence in congress? well, theoretically you sure can, but name at least one person who has done it in the last 50 years? it's another form of control, though different in mechanism. 'you can have ford T of any color, considering that the color is black'. corporations who pay for election campaigns get privileges after them. just check their financial results - democracy is a myth, illusion that the people have power. people in the US do not even have power to call things by their names by courtesy of certain lobby in the congress. it's illegal now.

so, the lesson is to judge for yourself, not believe what you hear; think for yourself, not what you're taught; learn for yourself, not eat up only what is specially presented. otherwise you become merely a puppet fighting for dreams that wealthy people place before you to grow more wealthy.

i'm not against wealth, nor against corporations, but against the system which allows them to take control and spit on human life then cover it with propaganda and do it all without any opposition.

though not efficient it was, the opposition was SU. and when it was in place, the world was a well safer place overall. wars were fewer and people were not afraid of bombers coming tomorrow, like it is now in iran, was in iraq and still continues. some might argue, that people were afraid of SU starting ww3. true, however where does the fear come from? same old propaganda, which was strong these days like it never was on both sides of the atlantic ocean. world domination never was in communist doctrine. the doctrine is export the revolution. but the revolution can not be if not supported by the majority of population. so, it was choice of particular country and SU could only offer aid in this, no military operations. why all the oppression towards SU then? pretty simple - if people know what it's about, the corporations lose their power. for that matter propaganda made it 'pure evil', hence now very little fraction of a percent in the US actually knows what communism is about and others are greatly surprised to learn that many concepts of it are working fine in nowadays US government and law system. ignorance is the best ideological defense. certain people don't want john doe to know everything, hence remain proud and happy for his country. who cares about people dying in some iraq?

now, when 'superpower' is in place, the world is well less safer, which is evident with simple calculation of military losses. the balance must be in place. evidently it does not work otherwise.

good luck.
