I disagree with Lithiumwhoever. Geometry isnt strictly a subset of math... it is considered as such by convention only. Historically... and in practicality... they are quite separate subjects. Geometry is merely utilized to describe math problems. Geometry is as much about logic as math is. According to lithium, there is no reason to restrict the sciences from the math category either.
I do agree with lithium, however, that it was a good move to group the two... because that is how we apply them and that is how our society views them.
It is quite unlikely that a geometry question could be asked that doesnt somehow involve math. It also common for math questions to involve geometric figures. How could you draw an arbitrary line between the two? Those of us who spend all of our time in one category will miss out on potential questions that just happened to be posted under another. Its like asking a question about software for internet technology... do I post in computer/software or in computer/internet?

As it stands Geometry is a part of mathematics. Inseparable in fact from mathematics because much of mathematics is based on geometry and geometry is described using principles of mathematics. In High school geometry may seem like a separate subject than the other classes you take in math, however once you get to university it becomes much more evident that geometry isn't even a branch of mathematics it is the nucleus of pretty much every field of mathematics.

If you notice geometry would require you to draw figures.
Right now, we can't do that with yahoo answers. Of course, there are some who manage to attach to their questions drawings of the figures. But not everybody is capable of doing it. It will be more convenient if yahoo answers has the capability of allowing geometric drawings. It's really difficult to answes questions in geometry if it is not accompanied with proper geometric figures.
Anyway, I agree geometry IS part of mathematics and there is no need to make a separate category for it.

I don't think so.Such doings will cause Yahoo!Answers users to think that geometry is something not related to mathematics.Any further classification in topics related to mathematics is unnecessary.

Geometry is strictly a subset of mathematics.
If you made a separate category for geometry, you ought to make categories for number theory, algebra, group theory, trigonometry, fractals, calculus, differential equations, chaos theory, combinatorics & probability, cryptography, statistics, and game theory as well.
Yahoo chose not to do this, and I agree with the decision.
