I once knew a girl named Tequila.

Some object names sound weird to us, but it's really something people have been doing a long time. We name girls after flowers (Daisy, Rose, Violet, Lily) and precious stones (Ruby, Jade). Hippies named their kids after natural objects (Rainbow, Moonbeam, Leaf) and some of the most popular names now are from nature (Brooke, River, Rain). Words having to do with music seem like normal names now (Melody, Harper, Cadence, Robin, Aria). It was only to be expected that people would soon start naming their kids after fruit.

A while back I posted this question just for fun:
What normal English words would make good baby names?

I know a woman named "Treasure." I heard of a girl named "Placenta," because when her mother heard the word, she thought it was a beautiful sound.
