In all of music, just think... is saxophone (soprano/alto/tenor/barry) or clarinet and oboe more important?
I play sax and piano, which me and my friend agreed that piano is more important. Aside, from that.. which is more important... clarinet/oboe/sax?

Monika-no, the percussion had the part that lead the band. If you want to get technical-it was the conductor/drum major/field commander.
Otherwise, it was the clarinets. Because it was the easiest part to learn (notes, fingerings, melody etc). Clarinet is the easiest instrument to learn.
My mom always told me that the clarinet is for slow learners. lol.. idk how true it is though.

Neither instrument is more important. The "need" for each instrument varies on each piece you are playing, what style of music, and capabilities of the players. It isn't like music is based strictly on each instrument.

If you're performing the Mozart K622 with a pianist then you don't need a sax or oboe at all. If you're doing Miller's In the Mood then you don't need an oboe. When performing Chopin Nocturnes, we don't need any of them. It all depends on what we're playing.
There is no "more important" instrument any more than there is a more important part. This is the key secret to great ensembles and great musicians. It's not about "who's on first" it's about the music. âº
I would lean more toward the idea that arrangers, orchestrators, and composers are the "more important" piece of the musical puzzle (they are who decides what you play); but then, it's probably really the audience as most important. Without an audience, there's nobody to play for.

oboe. it's the insrument to which the rest of the orchesta tunes. clarinets are okay, but boring. (if you can't play anything else, you get the clarinet. I should know, I'm a clarinettist) and the sax is too difficult to play in tune. and it's too loud.
bass clarinet on the other hand, is beautiful.

I play both clarinet and piano. I take clarinet lessons from a professional in the symphony, who also teaches sax. It really depends on the piece, though. The sax has a great sound, especially for jazz music. the oboe usually gets drowned out by other instruments. The clarinet is sometimes a very important instrument in classical. Good luck!
