Because she was a control freak. She had the most corrupt administration in Pakistan's history. Doesn't anyone have a memory? She was wanted on charges in Switzerland. Corruption defined her time in charge. She coerced the Pakistani parlemient into changing the law so she could stay in power for a third term. People got fed up with it and threw her out.
Does society only have a memory that goes as far back as last week?
The Swiss just closed their investigation of her on money laundering of millions of dollars in kickbacks because she died. Investigations continue on her husband.
I guess she just happened to invest wisely during her two terms as PM to wind up with a 10 bedroom Tudor mansion in England and over $750 million in Swiss bank accounts.
The only reason she was able to come back was that under an agreement, she did not oppose General Musharraf’s re-election as President earlier this month. In return, Musharraf announced an amnesty for all politicians, including Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari, accused of corruption between 1986 and 1999.
She is a high level thief who used her country for monetary gain and has a killer PR machine. Better than Hillary's.

For great people, there's more to life than being pretty and having a pretty home. She wanted to make a change. Pakistan was her home. All of her education was centered on diplomacy and government. Reform in Pakistan was her life's work. I hope that she can bring reform through her death. Maybe Muslims will turn away from the religious fanatics, who don't even follow the laws of Islam.
As for corruption - if it is true - one corrupt official is much like another. But what do they do for their country while they are lining their pockets? All politicians are crooked. It's understood. But can you also do good for others? That is what she tried to do.

Ms Bhutto once said that she was prepared to 'die' for democracy. She was a brave soul and a great Star, and a believer in the liberty of the poeple to govern themselves.
Ms Bhutto could easily have remained out of the 'fight' but that was just not her style.
She was a warrior Princess for freedom and liberty.
God bless her and the people of Pakistan and may they have the democracy they seek.

I know the estate . It wasn't very palatial and she had to give it up a few years ago.
She lived mainly in Dubai in recent years.
She felt she could improve life for the people of Pakistan

Because she felt it was her duty to try and bring peace and democracy to Pakistan and to free it from religious extremism. She could have continued to live a life of ease and plenty in the UK, but decided that to do so would be wrong. A very brave lady. RIP

Ms Bhutto originally left Pakistan due to overwhelming corruption charges that plagued her during the 1990s. In my opinion, she most likely would have remained in England if it were not for the state of emergency and extreme threats to civil liberties in Pakistan during 2007. Also, recently, the path towards clearing her from corruption was smoothed out, so she finally deemed it safe for her to return, as a hero, rather than as someone who will be arrested for corruption.

well unlik most of us americans, she was willing to sacrifice her life for freedom and democracy, unfortunately most americans dont have that feeling anymore we could care less because we enjoy the freedom ad liberty but other people in other countries dont and she wanted to bring democracy to her country and like the rest of her family she payed the price for freedom, may she rest in peace, may the pakistani people take control of their country from both the dictator musharaff and the terrorists.
