I guess it all depends of the type of hair that you have. When I was a teenager my hair was oily and I had mild to moderate acne on my forehead. I had to wash my hair everyday. Once I grew up and had a baby, my hair became very dry and I had to go down to washing it two times a week and use leave in conditioners. My hair is thick and quite long (past my waist). Believe it or not it gets "dusty" because I live on the South Texas coast and the wind is constantly blowing salt and sand. So, I also have to give it a good brushing with a natural bristle brush every day which takes out the sand and also distributes the natural oils from my scalp to the ends. I follow it all up with shine serum like Redkin's Glass.
Bottom Line: If your hair is oily and especially if you have breakouts, wash it everyday and use a light conditioner. Once a week, use a "Clean Hair" Shampoo which removes any build up of hair product. (These shampoos are usually too harsh to use everyday.) If your hair is normal than every other day is enough. But if your hair is very dry especially if it is color treated or permed, then wash it no more often than 2 times a week with a moisturizing shampoo and heavy conditioner followed by a leave in conditioner and use the clean hair shampoo about every other week. Also change to a different brand at least every 6 months because your hair gets "used to" certain products and they stop working as well. If your hair has little to no moisture in it, then don't be afraid to try products for women of color since they tend to have the best moisture building ingredients in them.

Twice a week because my hair is dry and curly, and long and thick...If I wash it too often, it gets worse, frizzy and hard to handle. I straighten it and it takes about 2 hours to dry and then straighten, so I like to keep the style as long as I can before I wash it out. If I need to, I freshen it with some lavender water from Aveda in between. This keeps my hair the healthiest. If I workout, then I wash it afterwards, but don't style it.

Well it is not good to wash your hair everyday because you wash out all the natural oils out of it. Your should wash it every other day. I wash mine every other day and it is very healthy.

every other day yes its very healthy but i think thats cuz of the shampoo i use. if i dont wash it everyother day it will get greasy. i guess it depends on the type of hair. i have naturally straight hair so i have to wash it a lot if you have curly hair you dont have to wash it as often.

I use to wash it everyday but then my mom told me that that washes all the vitamins out of my hair so now i do it like every other day.

Minimum of 4 or 5 times a week - however, sometimes it is everyday. When I wash my hair everyday, though, it tends to dry my scalp out.

Everyday with conditioner. My routine works because I never use shampoo since I have curly hair, my hair is moisturized but not greasy.

Every 2-3 days. My hair is super frizz prone and I can't wash it every night. I'd go crazy if I had to blow dry and straighten my hair every single day - it takes hours to finally get my hair ready.
