In normal sleep, the brain center for movement is shut down while still maintaining control over the excremental functions. In prepubescents and teens, that quite often doesn't occur untill they put on a few years of life with brain developement.. (Almost like a definition of reflexive sleep disorder without cramps.) If sleep walking continues a doctor should be consulted given that undisturbed sleep is important both physically and mentally.
Ever hear about the person who was chastising his dog for a long time when he found out from a house guest that he was the one who opened the closet door and took a leak?
Or the party animal who thought they were in the john and was woke up to find themselves standing over a chair?
In my case, due to loud snoring, my brother would tell me to go to the bathroom when I was younger so he could go back to sleep. I would ultimately forgo the last turn into the john and walk outside to make a yellow hole in the snowbank. Then returning back to bed, walking all the way through the house again in the gymshorts that I wore at that age. And then sitting indian style on my bed, lean forward with my arms tucked inside. Stretching out after warming up, I had no recollection of the incident the next morning. Now I understand why I slept better after my brother moved on to college!
As I have gotten older and need less sleep, I do recall getting up in the night. How often I have done that and not remembered (cause every apartment I had the john was just accross the hall or by the bedroom) I may never know! As I do know my way around in the dark and while there's others living in the house, who's to say I still don't? I'm just glad to say that the only smoking in bed I do doesn't involve cigarettes!
