Get another set of hands from a friend. One of you starts applying the decal from the top keeping tention on it. The other uses a plastic putty scraper or round piece of cardboard and smooth out the decal as it is slowly applied to the truck from top to bottom.

Get yourself something wide that will mold the contours of the body and not scratch the paint...ie a sqeegee. The wider the better.
Start by peeling off no more than 1/2 inch of backing. Carefully place the decal where you want it. Continue to slowly peel off the backing while applying the decal and smoothing it out (use the squeegee for this). When you get to the other end it should be nice and smooth.
I haven't applied decals to cars, but that's how I apply them to my model planes, except I smooth them out by hand since their too small for a squeegee. Besides that the squeegee weighs enough to where it might damage the model.
