MTV isn't force feeding you anything. You don't have to watch that channel or any other one for that reason. I happen to think MTV is more concerned with pleasing the devoted viewers at this stage ( 10-15 year olds) than the actual musicians, long time viewers, etc. These days the only time I turn on MTV, is if I wanna watch a REALITY show - not to hear music. Sad, huh? LOL. I do remember a time when MTV played only videos. 24 hours a day - can you? Ah, the days of "downtown" Julie Brown and Kurt Loder are well behind us - Stop complaining and watch MTV2 if it bothers you that much....

I agree with you there about the B.S. MTV is force feeding us but seriously i don't know why you'd feel so obligated to watch that horrible Chanel anyways. I discover most of my favorite bands on FuSE, or http://www.pandora.com. That way I know I'm making my own decision on what I listen to. Aside from that if Kurt Cobain did not blow his brains out we probably would not have the foo fighters and Nirvana would not have been as big of band as they are now.

Honestly, I'm sick of hearing people hate on different genres of music. Kurt Cobain was amazing, along with his band, but just because people choose to listen to rap, or emo, should be their choice. I myself listen to emo-based, I guess you could say, music, but thats not the ONLY thing I listen to. No one is forcing you to listen to rap or emo. I'm not saying this to offend you or anyone or start any argument, I'm just saying it for the sake and respect of music in general.

hey Nick:
I don't think Curt would make any changes to what's going in todays music. MTV, VH1, VH2 will keeping feeding teens with catchy bullcrap, to make almighty $$$$ ;-). Why Curt Cobain was man in his Grunge era. Every talaneted person , he had drained his talant like many of them
beside whoever said we don't like EMO music because they are on TV and radio and make $$. Yes, they make $$$ on teens :)
i'm sure these kids teens won't remeber any emo bands in 3-4 years, but they pissing in their pants on concerts..i'm not hating them its just FUN LOL

Probably.
A.) Every genre of music begets another genre of music. Punk begat new wave, etc. The self-loathing lyrics of grunge could easily be construed as having begat emo.
B.) Cobain himself stated in 1993 or so that he only saw Nirvana releasing one more album before they called it quits. I can't imagine Cobain's death robbed us of decades of music; in retrospect, it has only deified him, and somewhat unjustly.
C.) Rap and hip-hop were just hitting their stride in the early 1990s. Cobain's death had nothing whatsoever to do with their success.

Probably. Grunge was a good style of music, but I'm sure it would've died before the end of the 90's. Kurt's death just sped up the process. Every decade rock takes on different styles, we just happen to be in a crappy one right now.

If Kurt is alive today and listen to emo or nu metal, he wouldn't blow his head with a shotgun. That would be way too nice. He would blow himself up with a C4 explosive inside an emo or nu metal concert and take with him those bands.

As was said, no one is being "force-fed" anything. People are willingly listening to trash as they always have.
If Kurt hadn't taken his lead aspirin, the only difference would be that people might not idolize him so much.
