Sports in college?

Question

I was wondering if you had to have former experience with a certain sport to play it in college. I would love to be a part of a sports group in college and start a new sport, but i am afraid that since i have never played that sport i will still not be able to play it in college.

Is this true or are there more beginner groups or any open groups?

Well, you probably won't be playing on the university's official athletic teams, but you can get involved in what are called "club sports" and intramural sports. Most schools have quite a variety of these.
