Because if you try to stop homosexuals from doing anything they bloody well like, you get called names (Homophobic) and you are treated like a criminal.
People don't really feel that way, they are just too scared to say otherwise.
Lets not forget who introduced aids to the human race.

Because everyone's got the right to marry anybody that they want to! These people have chosen their mate that they want to spend the rest of their lives with yet they don't have the same rights that heterosexual couples have! It's very discriminating! What happened to the pursuit of happiness?
This is normal to these people. It's what makes them happy. Lets get out of their way already and let them live their lives! It's their life to live, not ours. Where is their freedom? It's one thing to say you don't agree with homosexuality but to say that homosexualities don't deserve rights is another. It's not fair!
The Conservatives say that this is moral degradation! How dare they! All they want is to have a life with their families! They are beloved by their adopted childen just as much if they were hetero. All the gays I've known have been very loving people.
At one time, they were known as straight, the minute they 'come out', we think they must be deranged and evil and what? brainwashers? The only people that would say that are the people that won't accept what they don't agree with. That's their problem. It's not up to us. It's up to them. If God doesn't agree, then that's between them and God. Still not our problem! Amen.

Why does anyone have the right to say they cant?
Doesnt the government make enough decisions on our behalf without consulting us or really taking into account our feeling's on it?
Back in the time before jesus christ even entered this earth as a messiah no religion was recognised or used concerning marriage yes they had god's they had worshipped but that didnt deter marriage of any kind , there were no prejeduces like today , no church nor man has a right to judge love and marriage.

I think in a free country gays should be able to marry and have the same rights as heterosexuals. This to me is about freedom. If marriage is a religious institution the government should get out of it and let the churches decide. Is there not a separation of church and state for good reason?

Why is it a "special right" as one of the previous answers stated. It is not a special right, it is the same right as straight people have. I have friends who are gay and are more committed to their partners than some of my straight married friends are to their spouses. It is about love. In this world full of hate and violence, why should we punish people who want to celebrate and honor their love for each other? Further, why should a person not be able to see their loved one if they are in the hospital because they are not considered family. Even people who have been in a relationship for 20 years don't have those basic rights if they are not legally bound! That is wrong, not a "special right!"

I do not care if they marry. It has nothing to do with me. I was able to marry the person that I loved and wanted to be with so why can't they? People say that it takes away the meaning of marriage. It does not take away the meaning of mine because that is between my husband and me, no one else.

Why do people think they shouldn't?
It's their own life, and their own beliefs. They can do what they want, and they should be allowed to be happy. You can't choose who you love. If two people of the same gender love eachother, they should be allowed to get married just as people of different genders are allowed.
You know, I never really realized how mean people are to gays/lesbians/bis until I watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. It's pretty sad how people treat other people who are different from them. It's like racism, but with sexual orientation. I don't think it's okay to descriminate against people with different sexual orientations.

For the same reason straight couples want to get married.....they love each other and want to commit to each other before God and friends and family. I don't think they should be discriminated against. You can't choose who you fall in love with. You can lead a heart to love, but you can't make it fall. For the same reasoning, you can't keep the feelings from developing either. Besides, straight couples don't have a good track record with the 50% divorce rate. Why not let gays have a chance?

It's not that people think it. It's that gays want it - for legal reasons (property, etc., distributed in partnerships). There are many of these issues addressed in civil unions but gays still think marriage is more 'legitimate' in the eyes of society. I think civil unions are just fine. Marriage is a religious ritual. Plenty of people get married by a justice of the peace and they are fine - and heterosexual.

So they can be as miserable as everyone else!!! If I were gay I would pray that they don't let us get married. Marriage is a lie. Marriage even destroys soul mates!!!
